FG MT differential rebuild

Here are a few tips when replacing, repairing or maintaining the differential in the FG MT. Remove the differential from the rear of the FG Monster Truck and disassemble. To disassemble it you can follow the steps below in reverse.

These are the parts you will find inside your FG MT differential.

Mark the gears by marking the opposite teeth on the outdrive gears and the opposite downside/inside areas on the small gears per the photo.

Install the two large gears teeth pointing each other on a screwdriver or other round item.

Place the small gears between the large gears opposite of each other with the markings you made on the gears touching/aligning.

Here is where it will take a steady hand. Slide the gears up the screw driver holding your fingers under and over the two large gears and your other fingers holding the side gears as the picture shows.

You can now place the set of gears gently on the FG MT diff gear housing and slowly slide them into place. Once they enter the housing you are home free, the gears will hold themselves in place. Phew the hard part is over.

Now place the gear pin into the two small gears and into the housing. Check your mesh by installing both outdrives and twisting.

Install a high temp lithium grease (Or your preferred gear lube) to the gear housing and cover the gears.
