HPI Baja Checklist
So you just got a new HPI Baja 5b buggy and you’re ready to take it out and go show it off to all your friends at the next bash meet. Well hold up, because below is a list of things you should do BEFORE you run the HPI Baja 5b for the first time. HPI did a great job with the Baja 5b, but no one is perfect and by checking the below items you can save yourself a lot of grief and maybe even money!
- Ensure all screws are tight. It would be a good idea to locktite each metal to metal screws yourself as it’s been known that some screws don’t have any locktite on them at all from the factory.
- Check the spark plug to ensure it’s tight.
- Check the shock caps, first to ensure proper oil amounts and to ensure that the caps are tight.
- Check the oil in the differential (see: Removing the Baja differential) it’s been reported some diffs shipped with little to no oil.
- Check the steering servo saver, if possible consider Upgrading Baja 5b Servo to metal gears.
- Check the throttle linkage and adjust where needed.
- Double check the amount of fuel needed for the oil mixture you will use. The HPI Supplied 2 stroke oil in the box is not enough to accommodate 1 US gallon of fuel.
- Check to make sure the air filter is properly oiled and secured.
