I'm seriously thinking about one of these kam 4x4 kits, anyone got on on a FG ST??? I want to see if it raises the front up at all, looks like it raises the front of the MT quite a bit.

Interesting question, I never saw that until you asked. I would think it would raise it exactly the same way it raises the MT? I know it clears servos and tank but if slack ever is an issue I think hitting the servo would be a given. I wonder when tightening the chain does it mess with the mesh of the gears on the side? I also don't think you could run front brakes unless you modified something to work - I do not want to go without fronts now that I have them. Also wonder if the alloy uprights will work with this set up? The other question is will we have the same diff problem with rocks and debris getting in the open top? The arms also look smaller like buggy arms?

I just finished installing this on a marder race. It clears the steering servo and gas tank, You have to install the gas tank without the brace on the bottom. The chain has no slack in it, you can actually change the tension by tighening the support bars. The install only took 1 1/2 hours after the chassis was broken down.

I don't think you would need front brakes, my Savage has one brake on the center driveshaft, it slows it great, likewise on the 4x4 FG if it had rear brakes they would slow all 4 wheels, so front brakes are almost pointless.

I like you would still like to run them though, probaly need to purchase new uprites.

Good point but I think if the diff is the same as the rear one the front will not lock completely it will slide to the left or right due to weight transfer like the rear stock brake no matter how much you brake it wants to slide. When braking on the MT the nose dives down allowing less weight to the rear tires with front disk it brakes like no rear can. The other thing is there is no place to put the front brake support on the front support so, brakes is almost impossible without creating something for yourself. I guess if you can't have front brakes at least you will still have room to put your RX box somewhere.

You would want some type of protection from the tank sitting directly on the frame or it will rub and gouge the bottom alot like the DTX Firehammers does.
If you tighten the two supports to take up slack does it move the side drive gear and stay meshed?

Sorry so many ifs but just figuring stuff out.:)

The tank does not move, the top mount is still used and the screws still screw into it. It fg tank mount(top portion) fits snug around the tank(has a grove) so the tank will not move at all. The gears are meshed fine.

Here are some pics of the finished product

My marder race is done except for radio gear and body trimmings. Here are some pictures of it showing the answers to some questions.

Do the upper mounts work in the same spots so i wound't have to redrill my Zieke racing body.

I'd like to see pictures of one of these kits installed and completed - servos, linkage and all.

Performance with the 4x4 kit

Does anyone have video footage once they have installed the 4x$ kit? I would like to see a MT's performance once the kit is installed.
