i live in whats known as the west coast rain forest, i'm on the lee side (east) of the mountains so we don't get it as bad as the west side, spring and late fall we get a fair bit of rain ...usually nice hot not too humid summers, hardly any snow in winter..we have at least 9 distinct micro climates here on the Island.. you can go fishing on the ocean in the morning and snowmobiling in the mountains in the afternoon...that is if you like snow, i don't, looks awesome capping the mountains but that's as far as me and snow go..BC is a truly beautiful place
The weather here is consistantly better than it was when i lived in Northants and Cambs...summer of 1976 not included of course

well didn't i ever curse the weather, from shorts and teeshirt 2 weeks ago to cold, rainy yuk...need to build an ark next

the shaft mod held up good in the yard so got my fingers crossed hoping that the whole transfer gear set up is sorted now.. once the wet quits i'll head to the hill

went out last weekend, gear set up works a treat and brakes work well too..took a pair of cheapo ebay video glasses...the hd ones i bought glitched and had hardly any audio, ...the ones i used here aren't much better and low def poo..all my gopro onboard got corrupted whilst downloading to my editor which sucks as the roll overs etc were real cool.. so out of 20mins running and 2 cameras i got 2.45mins of useable footage...better than none i guess...day ended when i moved to a different hill, got air of the lip and landed on the rear end, throttle off but wheels still spinning and snapped both rear axles...not my welds this time but the spool shaft hex and a hurrax shaft snapped clean in 2..i've some 4140 rod to fix the shafts and the spool shaft i'll heat treat after welding up the set screw flat which is the weak point...

in the vid it sounds a bit boggy on the bottom but it is not because it's struggling to get on the pipes but because i'm only giving it half beans until just before it hits the steeper hard sandy clay layer (this is what makes this hill so tough) until the very last run where it started getting hot and i got vapour lock and dry carb bubbles, it hits the power band as soon as i open it up..takes a different driving style...that i'm just learning, to anything else i've had, once i got it mastered it should break a little less
for a 54lb beast it performs above my expectations.
think i'll add some esc cooling fans to move more air over the cylinders...no air flow and high load and revs gets it pretty hot...i may end up going methanol in the end

yup 8mm, hopefully new ones will get here today...come to find that the info i gave you about the 50033 and xt part was bad...apparently they are different.
managed to find em on ebay so ordered 2 just in case

Not sure it was Van hobbies bad, i do know Scott had no idea redcat messed up with the info, found out when i went to order the same part....
sdp-si is where i bought my hex sleeves from for the axles, Mcmaster-carr have a bunch of cool stuff too

and i managed to retrieve some of the corrupted gopro footage using avs's editor so will throw a take 2 version up in the next day or so

i think it was the person that setup the web site up which i would asume is the hobby shops bad my way of thinking is they got my money and they are responeble for there site there for they owe me if a refund that small is going to put them under then they are on pretty shake ground and i bought them cheap anyway i don't think to much of them or scott.since u found out the same way i did .did they refund u? how are a the diff gears holding up? just wondering how they will take the heat from my digger got 10 inch by 5.5 wide hoosers and am going with dle 170cc boxer 75 inch wheel base probably 7.5 8.0feet long 3/8 tubing right now frame weight 10lbs

so far the ring and pinions are holding up but it's only had a tank thru it so far but considering i've snapped the axles twice and stripped gears then they weren't the weakest link...now i've strengthened the axles and welded up the shaft flats we'll see how the pinions hold up next time out....

for your build with the weight of a 170cc motor and heavy tires etc i'd look for maybe something a bit beefier, something in module 2.5 or 3...

TBO I've had nothing but good service from Vancouver hobbies, Scott is a good friend of mine so am surprised you had a problem.

guess it pays to have freinds in the right places u lost me on your recemendation 2.5 3... tbo ? im a little bit green in rc world been mechanic and heavy collision for the last 55 yrs. i have plenty of skill sets just not here good luck next tme out

no rear 2 wheel drive fuel dragster style 75 inch wheel base straight line car it is going to be a replica of darell gwenns fuel dragster just before the accedent that put hm in the wheel chair. the problem i have i don't know anything about gear design pitch or any of the other stuff u have to know to order them ive looked on there site and its greek to me im a complete dumass
Module 3

Pitch Dia. 134.4 mm
Face Width 22 mm
Overall Width 37 mm
Drawing Choice/mat'l Gear ( Steel )
Mounting Distance 50.95 mm
does this look like it will work?. ive done alot of reading so do u think this makes any sence. looks to be around 5 inchs or so in dia.Module 2.5
Teeth ( Pinion /gear ) 14 / 42

the toro gears look like they'd do the job as will the Mod3...just depends on what ratio you want...3:1 is the same as i'm using, you can then play with the pinion/spur to fine tune the ratio...my final ratio is 12.43:1 but with a slower revving motor (50% less rpm) you'll really benefit from a 2 speed or cvt...unless you plan to run high% nitromethane :) then you will still get a decent holeshot and keep top speed...can't find any torque figures for the motor so not sure what gearing it'd be able to pull

hope to get the jeep out sometime this weekend

ya me either sems like if the rpm is not real high maybe its got higher torque.was thinking of straight metanol .hope the jeep has carefree weekend and u to later dude
