6S, hmmmmm? Looks like they just maxxed out a Mamba X speed control and called it a day! I'll pass. It is a better deal than any E-revo brushless by comparison.....

There are loads of cheap, and poor-quality not-so-cheap ones - just look at New Bright!!

Give Traxxas a break - this is excellent.

I prefer largescale to be 'gasser' - just adds to the effect, but why should largescale 'suffer' with smaller scales advancing and largescale doesn't?

This is great - looks great too!!

I LIKE IT!!

Good video:
24 mm plastic wheel hexes, BOOOOOO! The rest of the truck looks decent. IMO, a 8S capable system would have made it sooo much better. Not as bad as I thought at first though.

They're their sort-of 'posidrive' hexes - not solid sides.
Not a fan of so much power onto plastic hexes with a relative heavyweight, but we haven't seen the insides of the wheels - perhaps they interlock somehow ?????

They did it with the Maxx and Revo, so I'm certain alloy hexes are already available.

I am excited to get my hands on one. Should be fun to plug and play with. With the $800 price point I think it looks like a better value than the E-Revo Brushless IMHO. I'm just worried my wife is going to constantly kick it on its lid just to hit the self-righting button.

I wouldn't want to discourage any purchases, and its perfectly timed, if it really can be in the shops.

$800 is on the steep side, but it 'is packing' as you guys say in America!
Technology, and pretty darned big.

As is standard, once it arrives, I'm certain one or more Hobby Stores will try to get more sales than others, so will reduce.
If you can wait for Black Friday, or whatever it's called, specifically next year - already on sale, initial problems ironed out, hop-ups available, etc - it'll more likely be available for a relatively bargain price.

Heart generally rules head I know, so many will purchase at its opening price ..
I like it a lot.
I would have preferred it to be a gasser at that size.
I would also like a SC clear body option - Bigfoot 18 is calling I reckon - would look great!!

I looked at uk prices and ?850 will get you a dual charger two 3s and the truck.

I like the look of it a lot, great for plug and play and easier to maintain than a gasser.

But yeah, I like the sound of a tuned pipe...

I am very tempted, as its easier to get an electric truck out for 5 mins run without bugging the neighbours than it is to have a quick run of a gasser.

If you're running the stock ESC, take great care.
It has been a very weak link, as I'm sure you've read.
The programming has been changed, and a 'fusible link' added, but there are still a few which when powered up, not even running suddenly decide to vent!
The motor isn't bad, but many optimise cooling.

Many swap out the original ESC at least for this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hobbywing...016303?hash=item3d1b0fa96f:g:cjEAAOSwxj5XP8Zo

Others go the full CC route - XL-X + 2028 on 8S.

Something to consider.

No need to say I hope you enjoy it, as I'm certain you will!!

During the last 7 months, I've been selecting various Traxxas and aftermarket parts, but despite the original wheels obviously performing well, apart from some early failures, I've never liked them as this should be 'Bigfoot' monster truck.

The problem is I've been like several other 'fans' and have been waiting on Proline, or even Traxxas themselves, to produce MT-looking wheels / tyres.
NEVER HAPPENED - or not yet.

What did happen is Losi brought out the MTXL.
1/5 wheels can be made to fit the 'X', but the MTXL wheels have 2 problems:
1. They're too thick and the various 'wheel lockers' barely catch - solved with Mad Max ones, which are deeper and also serrated at the surface.
2. The front steering block / knuckles on the 'X' protrude, and catch on the MTXL reinforcing splines - so these have to be trimmed right down - my mate Dremel to the rescue here, plus a bit of medium grit paper to tidy it up.

The truck is NEARLY finished - waiting on me getting the body painted. Family takes priority, but I anticipate liberating some funds before Christmas!! I have the body, it's just the paint that's required.

Size comparison - that's a 465 mm chassis FG MT with MCD tyres on alloys
