Just got the Losi MTXL and installed the dynamite kill switch. I’m using the dx5c with sr415 non avc. The kill switch works fine when I push the button on the dx5c but when I turn power off on the dx5c the kill switch is still lit up? What am I missing here? I thought it was supposed to also kill motor if signal was lost. The fail safe works when dx5c is powered off the brakes are applied. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

From my understanding it knocks off the engine if the receiver loses signal from your controller, or your controller runs out of battery power and switches off, or if you tell it to stop using a 3rd channel. The kill switch will still be lit up when the cars switch is still ON. I'm sure there's someone on here who can help in more detail. Is the SR415 somehow plugged in along the lines of the kill switch?

after binding am I supposed to put the power wires back on the bind slot or can I leave it in aux 1?

I take it you mean the signal wires from the killswitch? I'd put it into the aux ch (or ch3 on my remote) which you intend to use in order to stop the engine remotely. Sorry I'm not familiar with your particular receiver. I use a FlySky receiver on my petrol cars and their KillerBee's go into ch3 slot (which also happens to be the Bind slot too).

I'd assume that would plug into the +/- slot on the receiver?! Found a short video anyway, just fast-forward to around 3mins and he shows what to do with plugging things in (but doesn't show where he plugs the Lipo into I'm afraid)

Not sure on that one Pate, sounds like you'll have to read the instructions for the remote and see how to program and select what aux channels do what.

Pate, one thing to possibly check is the setup of the button on your transmitter. Is it a momentary switch or on-off? Only guessing but if it's set to momentary, it may kill the engine but allows the dynamite control box to remain on (even if the radio is turned off.) If the switch is already setup as an on-off, check that the switch is in the off position when you bind your transmitter to the reciever. One final suggestion, you can try and hold the button in the "kill" position while binding and see if that works. Hope it helps, Lamont

Bind the remote with the kill switch on the off position

How do I set the failsafe to shut down my channel with the kill switch? I have the dx5c with sr415

assign a button or a switch on your remote to the channel that you have your kill switch on then press the button and see if it turns on off

How do I shut the kill switch off before I do the bind?

I have it assigned to a button and can shut it on and off fine with the button. I guess I don’t understand how to shut it off before I bind it?

Answer:
When you hit the button on your transmitter and the engine dies, that's what I mean when I say shut it off.

Explanation:
There is a red light attached to the dynamite kill switch that will also shut off when you hit the button.
That red light tells you if the kill switch is on (red light on / engine will start), or if the kill switch is off (red light off / engine will not start)
Re-bind your system when the kill switch light is off and you cannot start the engine. You may also want to hold the trigger on the transmitter at "full brake" while you are binding. That way, when you hit the button or turn off the transmitter, the engine will die AND the brakes are applied.

In this video, Steve runs through the setup quickly starting at about 3:50 on the time line. He is using a Futaba, but the basic steps are the same for a Spektrum. Also note, when he test the setup by turning off the transmitter, in the background the throttle servo moves to full brake.

Ok but again how do I do this? Do I turn it off before I put bind plug in receiver or do it while bind plug is in receiver?

So if both radio and reciever are powered up, red light on. Hit the button, red light goes off, turn off power in the vehicle, add bind plug, power reciever back up and get rapid flash. Then put transmitter in bind mode to finish the process. Test for results.
