no no no don't get me wrong, im glad rovan and king motor exist, they have gotten so many people into the hobby and are very good for the price, they have pretty much revived the Baja platform, but this one costs way too much, its not worth it to me when the real mcd with better quality parts is not too much more.
I hear you its too expensive should be more like £700 or so because its a clone and obviously real is better than copy but it is still a quality car i just have a beef with the guys who are completely against the clones i wont lie my first baja was genuine hpi second was a clone but it was also the first time i actually had one with upgrades i didnt upgrade the original and sold it they i worked on the clone / rovan because it already had some upgrades it is what kept me in the hobby i used to only buy genuine hpi plastic parts then found i was able to upgrade the rovan for the same price but with shiny alloy as i paid for plastics then slowly moved on to turtle racing etc but im greatful for the clones i know so many people who cant go and buy a losi but they can affort a rovan lt or km x2 and so on also the clones are slowly forcing prices down and the clone companys also have good customer support in my experience
not saying its gonna fall apart, I'm saying they are charging a very similar amount for a lesser product than something that is better (mcd), that's not saying that the rovan will fall apart, I'm just saying they are charging too much and i would rather have the real deal mcd. also if you can save up 1250, im sure you can save a little bit more for the mcd, its not like their baja, people who can save up 450 for a rovan baja most likely cant save 1200 for the real baja, too big of a price gap, but someone who can save 1250, can most likely save a bit more to get a mcd because the price gap isnt alot, if that makes sense.
Im not saying your wrong but imagine telling someone their rc is poop just cause its a clone lol and yeah the rovan price is too close to the genuine mcd hands down so if i bit anyones head off my bad but other than the price of the f5 its a good platform 100% cheaper alloy is still alloy better than plastic

yeah, they are good cars (in my experience) for a bargain price, i also don't like the assholes who don't know how to maintain their rc and then bash the company when it's their fault, it's just retarded as hell.

Thank you for putting it like that thats what the problem is ive had friends looking to move up from 1/8th kyosho infernos put off by people who female dog about clones and how they fall apart etc so they sort of just gave up due to not wanting to part with the price of a genuine rc for a big price knowing they would want to upgrade where as someone with a bit of knowlege would say buy the clone but maybe change this and that or see how it goes first they just say things like thats crap etc should be encouraging it giving advice thats how the hobby stays alive we cant all afford the best so we settle for what we can and make it work

I am willing to bet that they have gotten just as many off the hobby. I see them for sale all the time as "fixerup" projects. They are not even worth the asking price because you have to spend so much getting them up to par that you just might as well get the real article from the get go.

edit: The problem I have with clones is that they are presenting themselves as something they are not. Why are king and rovan not making their own cars and designs instead of mooching of the RD and advertisement/brand of everyone else? Like most other copy brands they live off the fact that most people don't know the difference. A baja looks like a baja, regardless if it was made with proper materials for the job or not. And all this alloy talk. A plastic designed for the job are better for the job than all the chinesium alloy in the world even if it doesn't have the bling factor. Rovan in particular likes to hide behind bling factor...

"ohhhh shiney" - moron looking for a big ass RC for cheaps.

It is not just because the brands are cheap that they keep alloys to a minimum. Its because these nylon plastics are hard but will flex. Cheap alloy will bend and lose all it strength if you try to straighten it after a crash. Alloy looks good, it runs bad unless you fork over for the good stuff which is prohibitively expensive. And still keep crashing to a minimum because its soft metal.

lol@TJ what, are you 12?

i don't think so, the new-er rovans have improved alot from what they were, again from what i read, i my baja is a rovan and the only things ive replaced were the throttle servo and tires, well also engine but that lasted a good 6 months of beating

The only things you needed to replace where the throttle and tires and the engine? Wow... I have a 10 year old HPI baja do you know what I have had to change on that? I changed it to a 5T model because I wanted to and put in a rhino servo because I didnt know better at the time. The guy who had it before me never changed as much as a bolt and when I got it, the engine started up with the first pull. It still does. The guy before him tuned the engine because he used it for racing. We all changed tires during our ownership.

Well at least engines are a cheap buy so you got me there. And all those 100USD fixerup rovans are ripe for the taking.

So your saying you never needed to replace anything? I think the problem with ur points is that you think (or at least I think you think) that I'm trying to say that the $450 clone is better or on par with the way more expensive hpi. I'm not trying to say that because if I did I'd be talking out my ass, I've never had a oe hpi so I'm not trying to say these rovans are better, all I'm trying to say is that rovan aren't as bad as some fellows like you like to say (have u even had one?). also for $1200 the hpi better be better than the rovan. Sorry if I sound like a rovan Fanboy, I'm not tho lol.
Really really obvious if you power up your thinking lump.
At was 2:30 am , I'm not to bright at that point ?
You know i.v been trying very hard to bait you boys ......... but alas no takers ;)(y):ROFLMAO:

Seesit kicking off and just jumps right in ??
Ive had rovans my engine is a rovan i had other engines and a few rc's and i can honestly say i broke the most on my mcd but.. my rovan 45 did me so well i rebuilt it to discover the new crankcase and cylinder are improved even down to the coating and honing..but i know the clones are as good as the genuine and when they are not its only mi or things if any of you guys don't agree then you have clearly not had a clone you have the same or similar problems when you bash or race with a clone and a genuine car thats a fact also people who like to upgrade their rigs whether clone or original always upgrade the same parts when they afe upgrading for bashing or racing so if they werent almost as equal or even equal why do people do the same upgrades on the clones as the originals and why are there still alot of clones out there everywhere just look at youtube look at botagel on youtube and all those other guys
