OK, I have the first 2 out of the box and they look great. I'll have to take pics in the morning, just got back from a baseball playoff game.

The packaging was better for this type of 1/5th scale. They used a huge wiretie on each corner to tie the buggy down to a flat cardboard frame.

The wheels are some kind of black plastic, but they are really shiny, like a gloss black chrome. The beadlocks are chrome and look even better. I hope they keep this as an option or even keep them on the production vehicles.

The charger is ---- well, just cut off the wires and throw out the AC adapter. I'm sure most of you guys have better chargers. If not, get one.

The battery is a NiMh, 2000 Milliamp. Has a tiny charging jack, forgot the name of it.

The bodies are very thick and covered in a clear plastic film, but the film comes off and shows the shine of the body. They are pre-painted in white, black and blue. They attempted to make some kind of carbon fiber pattern. Stickers are inlcuded for headlights and some other stuff. Clear bodies will be available soon from the factory. The bodies are a tight fit, so some trimming may be needed to make it faster to get on and off.

The muffler is a stock stuffed CY version with the stinger, so ask one of your baja buddies to borrow an SS black muffler for the time being. I have a few left over, so my peeps will get a gutted can in thier boxes. Throw the stinger out.

I'll be trying different types of tuned exhaust in the next few days, and installing a 28.5CC head kit on the Monster Truck. The buggy will probably get an X-can for the time being.

More to come............

The wheel wrench is a great upgrade from the plastic one others use.

Oh those look so nice. Have you got a chance to run one of the production models yet and if so any thoughts?

I should have made a rule that said "anyone that got any Rampages from the first shipment are required to make videos and upload them to youtube" :)

I think what most people want to see is how they look side by side to a Baja for size and of course running against them for comparison.

So, charge your batteries and break out the tripods and get to work.

Sorry, had a baseball playoff that went into overtime. Then the lights went out. So we have to re-start Friday, then play again Friday night. I guess I have to bring the Monster truck to the field Friday night and work on it there. I'm dying to get it running with the 29 and the x-can.

OK, the 29cc is installed and an X-can installed with 6" stingers. The HPI piggy pipe is a no go. I should have it running in the morning.

OK, baseball season is over, my boy now has a first place trophy!!! So, onto the Rampage stuff.

I guess this is the combination to beat for the money. Take one Redcat Rampage Truck, add a 29cc head kit, and an X-can. Total cost is around $1100 MSRP. The head kit took about 45 minutes the first time, and was easy to do..

Its just getting tuned up, but its scaring the neighbors already. I can see this being addictive.

What is the configuration of the battery pack that comes with the Rampage? I have an almost new 2600mah flat pack, and I was wondering if it will fit in the reciever box.

I understand this is a new truck, but how does it compare to a Baja 5b rtr? I will be looking at getting something in the next few weeks (Baja or MCD or maybe this) Also from what you have seen so far what are the pros and cons of this truck? Also what has been made to make it stronger?

The Baja is definitely well designed. The little things like a sealed radio box, and charging jack, and ease of taking it apart make a huge difference. I wold say its on par with the RTR, but a little behind the SS kit. But, the 4x4is definitely a kick in the pants. Doing 4 wheel burnouts is a blast.

I am just getting into the Rampage, so it wouldn't be a fair assesment yet. So far, the Rampage is holding up well. Better than any of the FG clones I have had in the past. The Redcat designers have taken the good parts of all the Large Scale out there, and used their 1/8 scale knowledge to make this buggy and truck. As I take things apart, I cna see where they got their inspiration in certain areas.

For right now, you have to make the call on several issues:
1) is this your first Large Scale
2) do you have a local shop that carries Redcat or baja parts (not in Cuba I bet)
3) do you bash, race, and what type of terrain do you do it in
4) what do your buddies have and can you trade parts

We really won't know what needs to be stronger for another few weeks at least. So far, I haven't broken anything, but I can see some weak spots. The aftermarket guys are working on those parts already.
