Is there a reason there isn't a specific discussion thread for this vehicle? I get the feeling there is a general consensus that the Vekta.5 is unreliable and breaks a lot, or maybe that is just my perception. But it also seems like there are a fair amount of owners here as well. I'm heavily considering buying the Pro kit and doing an Rcmax build with it. Would be nice to have a specific discussion about this vehicle to refer back, post and share to.

Yup, you are correct. There is no Kraken section. There is a lot of Vekta bashing here but mainly because of the Trepadore tires. I love mine. I bought mine used and love driving it. I also love the "its massive" statement I get when I show it off.:ROFLMAO: If you get one you, you can put the build thread in the "Other" section like I did. We all like to see builds.

There is more of a section devoted to the Kraken Vekta 5, but you must log into the forum though Facebook.
Lookup my posts on the Vekta 5, it lists all on the problems I confronted owning this Buggy.
If I would have known what I was getting myself into, I would have stuck with the Losi 5-T. Check out the 2.0 version amazing
I have too much invested in my Vekta 5 with spare parts body panels you name it.
If I can get a 45 minute conservative bash out of it without something failing that a good day.
I do enjoy working on the Vekta, I have gained I lot of knowledge repairing it, which is part of the hobby.
I would not even think of going beyond the stock G320 RC motor.
Sincerely,
William E. Burrows Jr.

I will dig and read your posts. One reason I’m considering the Vekta 5 is because of its kit form availability. Buying an RTR and tearing it down to put it back together doesn’t really interest me a whole lot. I miss the days when everything was a kit, to be honest... Thanks, Traxxas. I also don’t mind fixing/wrenching when things break. I plan on upgrading everything all at once to help minimize breakage. But I’m sure there will still be other parts that fail, especially with big bore power. We’ll see what happens, but as for now, this truck really has my attention. I love the look and I dig the solid rear axle and four link setup. I still plan on buying an FG monster truck that I only plan on putting a pipe on. Hopefully that will be more reliable lol.

Do you plan on keeping your Vekta, considering how much you have into it?

Yes, I have enough spare parts on hand to keep me running for a long time.
I guess I am a glutton for punishment.
Under size tires and weight mades it a failure on the track. Damage starts when taking jumps and roll overs.
The second thing I discovered is the extreme heat produced by the transmission on the throttle servo side of the buggy.
Heat transfers to the servo, bottom plated and side brackets, the heat is hot enough to burn you.
This contributes to bearing failures within the transmission.
If you like a challenge by all means get one.
