Hi, new to this forum and new with Gas powered Rc cars, only driven 1/10 and 1/8 Nitro.
But bought this car from a guy in Norway because he couldnt get it to start, hope that is an easy fix.
Looking at options to upgrade it to 4x4 down the line, but will see how it runs once I get to work with it.
don't know much about the car, and neither did the seller(got the car real cheap), but assume its a 1/5 size?
Is there any simular cars i can use parts from to rebuild it to 4x4 or do i have to buy the conv. Kit for the Marder?
Its missing the sender and receiver, can i use the one i have for my 1/8 nitro truck or do i have to buy something thats fits specially for this size?

Brgds
Stian

Id start with a new spark plug? fresh tank of gas ? and rest the high and low needles on the carb? then see what happens

Yeah, will change the plug and the gaslines(has been standing for a while not being used).
Regarding the high/low needles, is there any set point they need to be in, like factory setup?
Know this was good to have when struggling with my nitro truck

hehe, yeah guess that will help alot ??
Im still in Turkey on vacation (actually bought the car piss-drunk) but always wanted one of these big cars ?
Will probably collect the car next week or so when im back in Norway

If its got a choke flap, it's probably the stock 668 Carb.
This will help.
Screw both needles all the way in gently. Then back the L out to 1 and 1/4turns and the high around 1 and 1/2. This should get you in the ball park to start it ?Screenshot_20181231-190303.jpg

Repost the pic as a full pic rather than an attachment ? cant see the text?

Not starting could be a number of things. Spark, fuel, or compression. Work your way back from simple. When you press the bulb on the carb, does it get fuel? When you pull the cord a few times and remove the spark plug, does the inside of your engine smell like petrol? If yes, then you're getting fuel.

Next, pull the spark plug and hold its threaded portion down on the head of the motor to ground it. Then pull the starter cord a couple times. Does the plug spark at all? Is the spark light blue to white? If it doesn't, first try a new spark plug. If you don't get a strong spark after replacing the plug, double check the ignition gap. You will need to pull off the pull starter and side cover. Loosen the ignition bolts until the ignition unit can be moved around, place a standard business card between the flywheel and ignition, then re-tighten the ignition bolts and try again. If still no spark, it could be the spark plug wire, or the entire ignition. You can get a new ignition with plug wire for $30 US.

If you are getting fuel, and getting spark, the next step is compression. Pull the starter, and turn the flywheel with your fingers. If the flywheel moves through an entire rotation without any kind of "lump" sensation, then you most likely don't have enough compression to fire the engine. At this point, either replace the piston and head, or look at grabbing another motor.

Best of luck!

Well thanks all for good advises, will check whats wrong with it once i get back to Norway and collect it.

Bought the car for 70$ and it usually are sold for around 400$ and up in Norway so i don't expect an easy fix.
If it's only sparkplug related problems, my good friend e-bay will support me ?

Regarding the receiver/sender, can i use the one i have for my 1/8Nitro or wouldn't that work??(cant see why)...

Should be OK, but make sure you have a 3rd channel to operate a kill switch.
A kill switch is normally the first mod recommended

So got my hands on the car, have startet to take it apart to see what`s wrong with it.

1: How can I see what type of ZENOAH engine this is? There are several types, 230/260/270/290..
2: How to find out what carb it is? Only thing I can see on the carb is that it`s made in Japan(yey) and 1148 stamped on the side.
3: The Ignition was in VERY bad connection together with a few other things, so just put in a little order at rc-car-online.de :)

I`m getting Fuel trough to the carb with pressing the "carb-bulb", I think there is good compression in the engine as I can turn the flywheel and I feel the resistance everytime the piston are on the top/bottom of the cylinder (if that makes any sense).
So hopefully is`t only the ignition that stops the car from running.

If anyone are able to help out to pin point what engine version and carb version I have, I would be very greatfull :)
