Hey guys, my name is rob and I’m new to the forum. I just got a second hand 5 last month the 26th. I’m new to 5th scale but raced tenth scale buggies for a while so this is the first build I’ll ever undertake and probably the only one until my son is old enough for his first rc.

The project has been named after my deep fascination with oh simpsons twitter page recently. I’ve logged hours watching his recent video addresses to the “twitter world” and I highly recommend anyone and everyone to check it out.

*Disclaimer besides general automotive understanding my knowledge on this subject is basically nil.*

Vehicles starting point as far as I can tell thus far:
Losi 1.0
Dual push pull steering
Aluminum diff housing
Bartolone tuned pipe
Proline blockades
Walbro 990 carb

Truck came without bumpers cage and body installed and no screws for any of it

First round of upgrades:
Hitec lynx 4 tx w/ proton 4 rx
Dynamite kill switch
Outerwears for shocks, pull start and air filter
Metal internal pull starter (generic brand)
Painted body

sweet rig BROTHA(y)
Thanks guys

Go to run the truck today until I lost a screw for my servo horn (no threadlocker) as well as my starter was hard to pull and sometimes locking up (don’t think I gapped the ignition pad correctly) so I Packed it up because I was towards the end of a tank anyway. Got back to my house and noticed one of my shocks leaking so I decided to take the truck apart to see if it had any other problems I haven’t noticed.

Found these things attached below.

Starter issue
Servo horn screw
Servo screw mounts are snapped.
Two shock boots torn
A little white thing floating around in the tank
(What is this? Photo below)

On the bright side front and rear diff teeth looks great gonna check the middle tomorrow.

I would up doing a full disassembly which I wasn’t really planning and to be fair I’m quite overwhelmed.

I ordered new 30-100-10 f-m-r for the diffs
Tlr shock caps with the bleeder screw
New shock boots
40 and 45 at shock oil
Killer rc power switch because I don’t have one now.

Questions:

Do I need a new fuel tank or is it easy to reattach that white thing?

What else should I look for while reassembling?

Wish me luck!!!
Welcome. So you're building a Slow White Ford Bronco?
Yessssssss great idea
Oh and all the bearings are shot and the body mount for the exhaust is snapped

All of your fuel lines & rubber stuff is rotted ,I am going through the same issue with my Baja ,you will have to replace
that stuff ,the white thing is the fuel filter!

That "white thing" is your fuel filter, you definitely need that. You can re attach it by removing the fuel grommet, and re attaching the filter to the fuel line (whichever one is the feed line, should be longer than return) , then slide the hole grommet and filter assy in and seat the grommet

Should I just replace it while I’m at it? It doesn’t look too dirty

That is normal for that to do that ,in time & the fuel causes that ,the fuel line actually can be purchased at the local
small engine shop or hardware store ,if you have a LHS ,would work too ,I use to buy it at the hardware shop for
.75 cents a foot....LOL......but my local stores since closed their doors ,I should have had my wife swing by the
the other hardware store when we to the other town yesterday ,but didnt think about it!....CRAP ....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Yeah I’ll do that thanks!

That’s a sweet work stand.
Which one is it ?

And full break downs are a little overwhelming at first but soon you’ll look forward to them.
Axis rc rocket stand. They are hella expensive but I don’t know what I would do without it
LOL....aint that the truth ,I have a 6' table littered with Baja parts ,including a plastic organizer ben full of
small parts & screws ,I hope I can remember!......
Haha I made sure to put screws in small sandwich bags
Reluctantly bought a new steering servo as well
