Hello everyone,

Has anyone installed a mechanical 2wd break kit on their Baja 5B? Wondering if it helps the steering as maybe it would not push much through the corners. Someone told me they installed the hydraulic break kit and was not worth it as it was very difficult to, was expensive and did not feel like it did much other than look good.

They likely didnt have the hydraulic kit setup correctly as they do help 100%. My front brakes over powered my rear brakes and I had to dial them back. With that said, cheap brakes are garbage and I have only found mecatech brakes to work well

I couldn’t imagine front breaks wouldn’t be great to have and thought that person probably didn’t know how to set them. I definitely want to put them on my buggy, don’t want hydraulic only because I don’t want to tear a hose and loose fluid.

Worth every penny. Got a rovan cable set on mine. Hit the brakes before a turn and you'll have better handling than without.

Edit:

I have the cheapo cable brakes installed and they were a pia to get right but haven't unadjusted them since I got them how I like um, have run them on 3 track days along with some bashing and so far so good. My FG cables on the other hand need to be tightened every run or so especially when the wire get's a little old and worn/stretchy.

The Rovans however, if you do go with them. They are made of some cheap carbonfiber crap, might be the real thing idk but what I'm getting at is... The first time you run them the material get's all in the grooves of the brake pad, you must clean them otherwise it won't stop right. Run them hard, clean, run hard again and re-check.
