hi guys, i just got into r/c becasue my freind got a lst aftershock. i thought it was pretty cool and all so i decided to look at the savage. i always wanted the baja, but i had thought that it would be to much. then last night i was thinkin, i would save alot of money if i bought the baja on gas right? like casue it takes normal gas and all. am i right? long term, will i save money? and how long does a tank of gas last? and wat is the exact top speed?

You will save a ton of money on gas thats for sure. And a tank of gas lasts anywhere from 35min to 1 hour depending on how your driving it.
I forgot to tell ya at the other forum that the Baja site is changing servers and will be down today but you can register when the change over happens shoundnt be to long. The top speed is somewhere between 35mph and 40mph depending on the tester.

hmm. 40mph...ok

yea, i was lookin at a lst but in the longrun i would never have enough money to alwasy be buyin nitro

o and, wat is one of the best engines upgrades (under 450) and how much torgue and speed woould it have?

Theres a ton of motors and upgrades for the Baja it all depends on what your looking for and how you will be driving it.Do you want ungodly torque???Or are you looking for top speed only or something in between??

The Baja is my first gas car too, I ran 6 gallons of gas through it last year.

If I bought 6 gallons of nitro fuel at $25-$30 per gallon that's $150-$180 just for 6 gallons :nono:

Buy a Baja and run it as much as possible, the more you run it the more you save! :)

Oneill Bros. is the best engine site in my view. For $199 you get a 29cc engine with the chrome package. I don't believe anyone can give you that much engine for that amount.

all this talk about it is making me sad i don't have mine yet. ugh and my mini baja broke today doesn't help going 60mph and hitting a 4 foot tall jump doing 3 back flips and landing on the frount wheel. :(
But any ways i drove the baja and i love it!!

save up get the baja .if you like 2-strokes this is for you you will like the run times and you can leave it stock just take exhaust pipe extension off to get a little more power and run it you don't have to buy anything else but oil & fuel maybee extra plug and have fun

The Baja is a rip roaring beast, well built, fun and very cost effective.
Not to mention it has a very high after market parts following. And it is only getting better. It is the best gasser/ 1/5 scale car on the market and the best bang for the buck. HPI hit a homerun on this one.

Here is what to look at on engine.

Head Kit or whole engine?
Head kit will be cheaper but requires assembly, on the other hand, new engine just need to be dropped in.

bigger displacement means more torque
race ported cylinder will out rev non ported ones, means more speed
longer pipe give more low end power and shorter pipe gives more top end power.

Yep, thats a KILLER motor! stock hp is about 2.4 with stock can.
the motor in your link starts about 4 or 4.5 hp, gain another 1hp or so with a good tuned pipe.
