Not sure where to start with this one. Went out and ran my Rampage tonight.

I have the following equipment:

killerbee killswitch
s3000 receiver
HPI SFL10 steering servo
Hitec 645MG
Redcat Rampage On/Off switch
Redcat Rampage stock 6v receiver battery

In the middle of a run, I went to turn the vehicle and it just stopped. Engine idled, no steering servo power, no throttle servo power. I looked through the little window and the killswitch was on (solid green) and the bind led was green.

The battery was fully charged before I left.

So I turned off the receiver in the truck, then turned off the transmitter. Walked back to my car, set it down then turned it back on. Everything worked. No glitches, no problems, no nothing.

Started the vehicle back up. Ran it for about 10-15 minutes with no problems. Then suddenly, idling engine, no steering, no throttle (or brake), everything was back to neutral again. Receiver bind led was on and the killswitch led was on. Turned off the receiver switch and the engine died (as it should). Turned off the transmitter.

Put the truck back into my car and drove home. Took it out, turned everything on and had everything back again.

Any ideas? I have two other vehicles using this same transmitter and receivers and have never had any problems with those. I had no problem until my throttle servo died last week. Replaced it with the hitec 645 but I see no problems with the servo at all. Kinda strange.

Damn this is one sleepy ass forum sometimes. ;)

I found the answer to why my kill switch didn't kill the engine:

I just found the answer to my question:

I'm guessing the failsafe was kicking on for one reason or another but my killswitch stays on during failsafe. I'm fixing all my models to make certain that the kill switch switches off when the failsafe comes on. Duh.

May just send that Spek receiver back to Spektrum and have them check it. I purchased it used so I may have a defective one. Last time I ever purchase a radio item used.

They just replaced my RX for a weird issue glitch. It was used.

I am having an issue with one of my dx3's and it constantly shutting off the motor because I have a kill switch. It seems to do it in an area at our park. I can however drive around the yard forever wtih no issue. I didn't think 2.4g's had bad spots?

Was yours under warranty at the time they replaced it? Mine isn't and they want 30 an hour to work on it.

Bad spots everywhere I guess.

I didn't even ask. It was past its 1 year warranty. I sent it in with a note of what it was doing and if I could have them tell me what was wrong. 11/2 wks later a new RX was at the door.
I figured if they told me it would cost me I would just buy a Futaba.:devil2:

I did send in both the TX and RX too.

That's awesome. You didn't have to send any credit card number or anything?

Maybe I'll go that route. I can't lose I guess. I'm thinking I'll get a Futaba anyway just in case a father-in-law or brother wants to run one with me.

Just send it in with a note telling them the issues and ask if the professionals could check whats wrong with it.

Make sure to give them your email address, phone number, and address. Send it insured and with a tracking number. If you do it on line I think you get tracking free.

Good luck.:clover:

Well gentlemen, it ended up being a badly charged receiver pack. I put this Rampage receiver in my FHMT and the FHMT receiver in the Rampage. Charged the pack up again and not a single glitch on either vehicle. Now I have an extra brand new Futaba radio. Does that mean I need another large scale so I have something to store the receiver in?

Good to hear you got it up and running. Another large scale is always
a great plan :cup-1:

You can't let that radio just sit.
I had a glitchy speky from a low battery. I thought for sure it was charged but tried another battery and it worked.

That whole radio issue was just annoying. The battery in the Redcat is like a 1500mah. I guess I just didn't charge it enough. I'm thankful I've got a good spektrum though! :)

Have a thought for the spare radio. Rob posted a new 1/8 brushless Redcat over at RRF......maybe in a couple months.....comes with a couple lipos!

For every bodys information..all the radio insides are Specktrum tech....
they make the insides for futaba...airtronic's...specktrum DX......

uhmm. for some reason i am doubting that. airtronic's and futaba are the oldest radio systems on the market. i doubt they would be taking advice from spectrum considering their reputation. glad you got it figured out csp. that lipo set-up is fast!!

Hey You should do your home work...Go to www.futaba.com
Home page..click on 2.4ghz Fasst.....Now what dose it say at the top of the page?
" Futaba Advanced Spread Spectrum Technology......
I do want this going in to a pissing contest with you.........
I just want to point out the spectrum technology is in most the radios we know by
different brand names is all...

slaw. you should know im not a very long pisser and not very competitive. so a pissing contest would not be in my best interest. i'll keep it short. spread spectrum technoligy was not invented by "spectrum". they simply use that technoligy in their radio's, just as futaba an airtronics. like anything else, some are better then others. that does not mean that "spectrum radio's" do anything or make anything for other radio companies.

Spread-spectrum techniques are methods by which electromagnetic energy generated in a particular bandwidth is deliberately spread in the frequency domain, resulting in a signal with a wider bandwidth. These techniques are used for a variety of reasons, including the establishment of secure communications, increasing resistance to natural interference and jamming, to prevent detection, and to limit the power flux density on satellite downlinks.
and for a more detailed lesson in "doing your homework" read on..

Krypt...Yah yes..Lesson learned..do a google search....I was misinformed by a contact

I owe you the apolgee and every one else...I mislead here.....SLAWHAMMER

Well, I have heard of this for regular receivers but I am about to also try it.
My neighbor has a DX3.0 and was having range issues. He told the LHS this and they told him to wrap it in foam and then install it in his Baja. He did and now can go twice as far without loosing signal. How the heck is this possible? I don't know but I'm going to try it. I let you know if it helps.
