beetle 535 have Hydraulic brakes or cables brakes

Hi fellows thinking about buying a fg bettle 535, just wandering if the brakes are hydraulic or cable? I heard alot of complaints about the hydraulic ones from fg owners!. Hope to hear from you soon.:cool:
 
They are cable brakes but I think you have it backwards, it's the cable brakes that get complaints. I have cables and it is very hard to get both tires to equally clamp down. They still work and have no problem stopping my cars but a pia to set up properly. Hydro's you have to bleed but I hear they have much better stopping power and smoother but you get what you pay for, hydros are around $250 a pair!
 
I had a set of front KPD hydros on my FG MT - had nothing but problems - always bleeding them.
I reverted to 4-wheel 'Tuning' cable brakes, which are fine.
It is true that they require regular re-adjustment.

Magura's are said to be a really good kit.

I want a beetle sooo badly but I must say I'm apprehensive because of the cable issues!! How much time will one have to spend re-adjusting brake cables?. The fg beetle represent something different then the rest of my rc's but not at the expense of fussing with cables all the time
 
Don't be to worried about cable brakes the main trouble is the cables if there new there good but once they have a bit of wear that's when the problems start more because cables stick and don't move freely or equal

Hydros are great mecatech are very good I've got them on the on road my bug has the layshaft hydro and contrast fronts both cars stop well above the cable brakes bleeding is a pain but well worth it
 
Is bleeding that time consuming how long does it take? So if a bought a new beetle I should be good for how long? Let me see if I have this right the hydros need bleeding and cables don't. Doesn't the throttle brake come into play.
 
Bleedings no big deal to be honest and once airs all out jobs done, get a roll of kitchen towel and a bleeding kit should take no more than 20-30mins a set,I've spent longer trying to adjust cables especially if there dirty or have a slight kink which happens with the steering use etc there's a few vids on YouTube to help with bleeding

id have hydro over cables all day long get a savox and you can't go wrong

check out my beetle that's got huge 85mm oddified discs pads and spacers up front and 69mm layshaft hydro again using oddified discs pads ect believe me it stops very well

With all my hydro I've replaced plastic fittings for steel including all tee pieces these can be nipped up nice and tight and last a lot longer and look nicer plus there cheaper than stock ones
 
There's no reason why a good set of hydros, like Magura shouldn't work.
The ones I had were another make, and gave me non-stop problems.
You'll generally have to bleed from time-to-time, so take care with the installation.
I did find cables less powerful than the hydros, when they worked properly - that was using a Savox 1230 500 oz in 6V servo.
