Those motors are def set up for bottom end. I think there is a lot of potential. Can you use taller gears to gain some speed. It should have plenty of torque to turn them. Also some time when you are cleaning it or whatever pull the pipe off and make sure your motor isnt free porting at the exhaust like mine does. That is def gonna cost you some power.

What do you mean by free porting?

You can see there is daylight showing under the piston when at TDC. That is a problem. I have notified Dan about it. I suspect there could be a lot of them since its a mfg defect but hard to say for sure. Maybe they have more than one tool to cast the cylinders and not all of em are like this. Any how if it is ,you are loosing fresh fuel/air from the crank case every stroke. Its blowin straight out your pipe.It would still run but not at its full potential. These motors have huge int/ex ports and modified transfers so they should be making fairly good power.

I'll check mine, but I suspect the 29cc engines in the KM's are indeed different than the 30.5 in the Rovan's.....I have yet to see anything other than smoke out of the stinger as well, so no raw fuel exit for me. That would bother the tune of the carb. too and my 29cc is holding a tune just fine. It has more torque than a stock Losi 26 but not the top end revs so hence the lower top speed. This pipe seems to be a mid range pipe similar to the VictoryRC tuned pipe (non big bore).

That is a KM motor. I thought it was the same as what came in the x2 but im not 100% sure.Another guy had mentioned it was. Hopefully yours is all good. I doubt you would see the raw fuel in any way.Im not even 100% sure thats the affect it would have.It might just weaken the vacuum for the intake, or cause slightly more spitback through the carb.It would be a power loss either way but its not enough of a gap to be severe.

Nothing to report, really. Still running just fine at the 4 gallon mark. Added 2S lipo to the receiver box. For all of you racers, a shorty pack fits perfectly. Added a LED light bucket set as they are drop in ready and wired them up. Works great. Pics:IMG_4948.JPG IMG_4949.JPG

Revo very good review. I also went with the same center diff lock. But I went with a Rovan LT 305 and to me the X2 and the LT 305 are one in the same. I just got a better package deal with Rovan. Also got Super Bee kill switch. Truck will be here Monday and parts from DDM will be here Saturday with the Super Bee kill switch and diff lock, plus other goodies. Loved your videos. My son and I watched the Frozen Rush race on TV was cool as hell. I just put in a second order to DDM for outer ware and more goodies. As to engine I will pull the stock engine and be using a RCMK CR300F, 4 bearing, 4 bolt engine. I love RCMK engines as that is what I run in my Boats (Cats). I was in the right place when I found the CR300F and could not pass on the price of $180.00. I can not wait to start running my truck. Again THANK YOU for your review of the X2,

Revo that is just way cool. I have said for years, many years. They need to race 4x4 trucks on SNOW. Oh my Rovan LT 305 truck got here today and my son and I will start the work on the front and rear diffs and swap in the center diff lock. Must say Dan again has gone above and beyond the call. I have to prep the RCMK engine with the Killer RC kill switch and get this truck running.

This is the KIT I just got. http://www.rovanrc.com/1/5-truck/lt...o-run-comes-with-everything-a-rtr-comes-with/

Again thank you for your review and what you did to prep the truck for build up and run prep.

Stock KM steering servo quit today. Looks like they might not be quite so lipo. friendly. I see Hobbyking no longer stocks my other fave the Turnigy 1270HV, bummer. I really don't want to give my money to Savox.

Revo pop open that KM servo and check the motor wires. We have had a few sets that have failed due to fraying. Super simple fix if that is where it has failed.

I checked it, the board delaminated. It smelled of letting the smoke out. I wouldn't trust it at this point, even if repairable. I almost ruined the truck, tumbling end over end, was the last I saw of it as it disappeared into the woods. I'm looking at PowerHD units as I have great luck with them in smaller scales and Lipo power seems to be no problem for them.
