Can you point me to thread that discusses this? I search "mess mod" but didn't get much ... I'm complete newbie, so I don't even know where on RC this picture is taken from. THANKS

It's on the outside of the crank case, that youtube clip that's been linked above should show you exactly.

It's Mesh mode. It's the same concept of Mosquito doors/windows.
It doesn't let big chucks of grass or small rocks enter the engine.

Hey guys, received my x2 yesterday and did a quick unboxing vid. Sorry for the quality of the vid as i was done with my cell phone. Got a tank through it now. I went over the whole truck and found it to be solidly built with good quality plastics. I'll post another video once i get some more time on it.

Kings Motors X2 from dan4lc

Hello all, I have been a 1/5th scale addict ever since the hpi Baja came out, I had my version 1 hpi Baja since new when they first came out and have had king motors clones ever since and the value and upgrades that come standard for less than the price of a bone stock Baja is a no brainer, I I want to also note that dan is the best seller because he always stands behind what he sells and that is a huge factor to have the seller of the product always available to answer questions and stand behind what he sells 7 days a week, now I just purchased the latest version of the king motors x2 losi 5ive t clone and I can tell you this, this truck is awesome and comes with all the goodies including some high end upgrade parts that would probably cost an extra $300-$400 if you were buying the losi truck because they give you nothing just the truck bind and drive you have to even buy the transmitter to make it run, the radio system that comes with the x2 is the latest greatest from king and its an awesome full featured radio system, and the pipe that comes with it is a great performer, all you have to do to this truck to avoid any issues is and this is highly recommended is to locktite all screws that screw into metal and change out the diff fluid to a heavier fluid and re seal the diffs and after that you will have one reliable beast of a truck for half the price of the real thing, actually better in my opinion and I was the biggest skeptic about these clones back in the day until I started dealing with dan4lc now I would not go with anything else, so please before you consider spending $2000 plus of your hard earned money on a losi that comes with no upgrades, pipe or transmitter I would strongly encourage anyone to check out the x2 for not only the value but the excellent customer service, heck 2 of my friends bought 2 king x2s and dan gave them a heck of a deal for 2 of the m I believe $825 each and they are having a blast when we run, they followed the recommendation of locktiting all screws and bolts and changing the diff fluids out but the 2 hours that it took them not only gave them a very reliable vehicle but it got them familiar with the truck which this is a hobby and I love doing my own wrenching that how you learn and this little bit of premaintenance is well worth saving $800-$1000 than if you bought a losi and did all the upgrades the x2 comes with stock, sorry so long winded but wanted to share my experience which was a good one, thanks for reading!!

I'm thinking of buying an X2 and just wondering what weight diff oil you used.
Also how did you seal the diffs?
Thanks

I am running a center diff. lock (team chase) because 500K oil and grease wasn't thick enough....The front is 20K and the rear is 5K and it handles quite well on stock tires. The sealing involves checking the o rings to make sure they aren't nicked or deformed and putting new ones in place if need be. Usually they are fine, just the stock oil is way too thin, almost like shock oil.....They just need a thorough inspection.

In retrospect, all these members who opened an account last year, most they reach is about 15 posts, and all in the X2 thread talking about all the nice things and recommending to save some dough as to not go Losi brand.
** Above is my X2, a Christmas purchase, a 1/5 to celebrate the holidays and jump into the bandwagon of awesomeness expressed by all these 20 less post members who have not logged on for months. "90% is about, I just bought mine, cant wait..."

After thoughts?, I got you after pictures.

And got more to share in the next few weeks.

I think I posted my recent thread in the wrong board so here it goes;

I bought the KM X2 roller with upgrades, fuelie 30.5cc and ''Fatboy Tuned pipe''. Its been 2 months now and I put about 15L of gas into the truck. I use it for bashing, but I don't bash hard to be honest I never did with all my model, mostly in sand and light jumps. But, I race it at the local club/track. Right off the bat, I got some comments; ''oh its a clone its fragile'' but still overall positive, the quality of the truck is really not that bad, you still need to take it all apart when you get it. My first race with the truck I qualified 9th overall and finished 2nd in the B-Main... Sure its the B-Main but I was against 4000$+ Losi 5ive-T Build with stupid fast 7hp+ engine and full on Team Chase everything... I was completely box stock (including KM wheels and tires) with 25$ Servo (Bluebird BMS-L530DMGplusHS) for steering and throttle in 6V config (2X 2000mah 2S Lipo on 20Amp BEC)... Only thing I added was crankcase mesh mod, Dynamite Failsafe and TGN 3 stage filter + DDM velocity stack and aluminum intake with an Outerwear. I did not have a single issue with the truck, it was plenty fast and I did not break one thing. Hell, my only issue was my crappy Spektrum DX4C glitching randomly... But when I got the truck, I made sure to re-assemble it completely and I was glad I did, the diff oil was half full and the diff where leaking (2/3 rear and center, front was okay but I rebuilt it anyway) also no grease on the diff crown or pinion I went with TLR high pressure grease. When I was breaking in the engine the rear diff locked like a spool, I broke the spider gears and replaced them with Losi parts (16$). Now , like all Losi 5ive my pinion is trash since I don't have any mesh plate but it did last a good 8h of bashing and racing... I'll replace the pinion and keep stock 58/19 gearing (I'll go with the Losi) and add a Bartolone mesh plate and aluminum center diff carrier and top plate to eliminate the flex in the braking system... I have videos to prove all im saying... I don't think I have pictures though, Ill look into that tonight and post the videos at the same time...

Oh after the race I checked everything and here`s what I noticed:
The pinion is trashed (it still holding up though)
The spur slightly worn
No leakage from the diff
Pinion and crown of the diff are mint
Engine is mint
the 4 CVD`s (axle) are mint
the rear axle is mint
the front axle show a bit of wear on the axle pin
the outdrives:
Front - mint
Center - very slightly worn
Rear - took a beating but still very drivable
Diffs feels super smooth but I did not opened them and won`t until they explode
No play in the suspension or steering system

Honestly im more than satisfied with it, I'll just upgrade it as thing breaks... but so far so good!
Also, its my first large scale, hence my low post count , but google my username, ive been on rctech and alot of other forums for years in anything from 1/24th scale up to 1/8th nitro and electric...

Here's the pictures of the setup and track, sadly not alot of pictures, the video (cellphone sorry) will follow aswell

And the TGN filter doing its job perfectly ....

Ill try to upload the videos asap :)

I used to get the flat spots right away with KM parts, with LOSI its not that quick, but I do get them.

if it worked, more power to you, but so far almost all parts/items received are out of tolerances, damaged, don't fit.

Good luck
