hi guys morning.just want to ask any body have already Losi MTXL monster truck? How about the performance and pipe? We have orders me and my friend..thanks a lot

Hey wafu I have an awesome build that I am going to do with my mtxl when it come I'm gonna turn it into a truggy maybe you could do the same and back to your question I have seen some videos of it and the steering servo looks ok but like timritchieblue stated it will need an upgrade but for thirteen hundred dollars last thing you probably wanna do is cough up 200 bucks for a new servo

I have one, it's alright, steering is definitely weak. With a bit of tuning it has good power. I'm happy with it. I did break a rear axle on its 3rd run.

Ya but that was before I put the tires on. Putting new rear diff and fast eddy bearing kit it in right now. Was hoping to put Kershaw Designs hd diff bit they're on backorder for another few weeks.

I had my MTXL converted to electric by Kershaw Designs, decided to go with the Leopard BL5/58-110 950KV motor.
Why you might ask? Well, after researching the Castle Creations 2028, the Leopard 58-110 seems to
pack about the same amount of torque AND it definitely has the faster top end speed. Now, as for the turning issues that some of you are predicting the
MTXL will/to have, Uhmmm... I have not had any issues with mine yet. I'm running an 8000mAh, 70c lipo set-up
on mine and, if I decide that I need to make a sharp turn... I simply throttle up as needed to execute my turn accordingly. I own 2 gasoline Rampage MT's and I agree that the large scale giants have a natural tendency of requiring about half acre to get turned around! lol That's more of a power issue, than a steering issue IMO. I've watched many YouTube vids and, it seems that it's impossible to pull the front tires up w/ the gas version. I (and a few witnesses) can honestly confirm that, if you change out your front and rear diff lubes to a much thicker grade and, you're running 8s all electric power house system... It ISSS possible for the MTXL to pull wheelies! Hope to see/hear from other MTXL drivers! :)

.... and people were saying to base it on the 5ive?

Imagine how big that would have been!!

Enjoy - obviously!!

I'd say get used to it with the standard motor before you start upping the ante - might start exposing other parts ....

Looks like the family may have to be very 'understanding'!!

The turning radius is definitely too wide and has caused me to chase after the truck more times than I'd like....what it really needs is a reverse gear...surprised they didn't include one because you really need it on a truck this size. I'm currently searching for some smaller wheels/tires to try...I could spend a fortune on some more powerful steering servos, but I don't think that would make that much of a difference.

Hi guys,,

I stumpled on this thread while looking for some MTXL related stuff. The turning thing with this truck is related to the radio. I know exactly how it sounds but it is. When I got mine it was a bit of a slog, no matter what I did I could not make it turn evenly and it had the turning radius of an 18 wheeler. It was driving me up against the wall, especially the uneven steering thing. Then I ran into a local champ racer who are also a teamster for Losi and he told me it is the radio and that he had a go.propop with two recivers I could buy for very cheaps.

The guy was right!. In the go propo I can control every parameter down to iota detail and now the truck have a much smaller turning radius and it turns an even amount. The steering is off balance by a lot. I have to set the balance at 40-70% for it to turn evenly. And I have to boost servo outermost position to 150 (default is 100, 150 is pushing it) and then scale back some through the balance settings. But now the truck drives like an absolute dream. The servos are fast and responsive and they have no problems with turning those big wheels

I am sorry that this is the solution, but if you can get a cheap proper radio then do so and become a happy camper with your truck. Fiddling with the servos, remounting horns over and over will just not get you there. Close, but no cigar. This is one of a few bad decisions on Horizons part with this truck.

Another is the piss weak steering link. Just go an change it now, you will have to eventually.

"Lets put 60kg fast moving force on a tiny little plastic rod and make the part critical but lets make the fiddlesticking servo horns that link to it out of aluminium...duuuuuh *droool*" -Losi executive

I still prefer, the Rampage, has to me the more truck like look.

The Losi is a short course truck modified to make it look like a truck.

The MTXL is a buggy with very big wheels. Once you get it under control it is surprisingly nimble and shockingly aggressive at the same time. It is the unholy marriage between a 5ive B and a DBXL and it will do crazy airs and take abuse like few trucks I have ever seen. Forward to 2:50 for some action

Thanks for the info - I actually have the truck apart right now and could easily swap the receiver for one that will work with a much better radio I have handy. I'm also about to install the Hot-Racing ball-bearing steering setup since the stock one was totally stripped, but I'm stuck...it's my 1st Losi vehicle so maybe I'm just missing some basic way to reference parts/screws in the manual because I'm so used to Kyosho stuff...but when I was about to start putting everything back together, I noticed that the exploded diagram references LOS255003 in several areas that require different-sized screws, yet that number only tells me which BAG it's in, not which size to use! I actually started a whole pathetic thread about it here.

Any advice?

Easy way; http://www.davesmotors.com/RCScrewZ-los088-Stainless-Screw-Kit-For-Team-Losi-Kit-LOS05009T.html
Hard way; http://www.jewelrysupply.com/Electronic-Millimeter-Gauge_p_11293.html

The hard way can also be used to measure the screws you have and find matches at DDM. With builder market screws you often have to cut them a bit here or there but they are a lot cheaper.

edit. I forgot, you can usually just look up the part online and get the specs. I think that include screws but I just go to the builder market myself.

I actually already purchased a complete stock screw set, figuring that'd make it easier since it was only like $13. I am amazed at how little I can find online about this particular area (DBXL too). Even Hot-Racing ignored my questions. This is pretty annoying; I'd bring it down to my LHS for some guidance, but the last place I knew of that was willing to work on 1/5 recently decided they don't want to anymore. Horizon had me on hold for way too long so I'll try again Monday I suppose.
