Hey everyone,

I so far ran 2 full tanks of gas through the engine. I bought the truck brand new 2 weeks ago. One thing that has bothered me by the truck is the stock shocks. They don't rebound quick enough. The rear shocks sort of sit a bit lower than the front shocks. I assume it's due to the weight of the engine. Yesterday I tore up a baseball diamond, it was a lot of fun! However, it made a huge mess to the truck :p. So I removed the center diff for cleaning and also removed the shocks for cleaning. That's when I noticed the ball joint had some shock oil. After checking the shock boots for cracks, only ones I saw was where the shock cupping is located. It seems the shock cupping cuts into the rubber, making a hole into it. So each time I run the truck, sand, dust sticks to the ball joint area if the shock oil leaks. It seems the rubber material used for the shock boots, are not thick enough to withstand a beating. I've seen shock wraps at my local hobby shop. Are people using these instead of the shock boots? It looks like these shock wrapping is a way better option. It covers the entire shock.

If anyone has suggestions which shock wrapping to go with, please let me know. Also, I will eventually buy new shocks, the stock Losi shocks seem very sluggish to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I ordered the shock boots and the pull start cover from DDM Racing. It was shipped on Monday. Not sure when it'll come to me. USPS so far doesn't have the package listed on their database. Hopefully soon they'll show the tracking info. I'm excited to use these covers.

Horizon Hobbies has been awesome with me. I told them about how thin the rubber material is, and how I bought new boots. Those new boots were installed, and they tore. After telling them this, they have shipped me a new set of boots. Waiting on those replacements as well. So I thank them for their awesome customer service :)

The same way I hammer other brands, on the X2, the shocks are bullet proof, bash all the time without shock covers.

Change to a heavier oil, put red springs in the rear, gold in the front.

For me it works fine the front gold ones installed in the rear. Suspension should be so the dog bones are slightly higher then center (rear), but once you accelerate they are horizontal, straight line. So for the rear, a little high, for the front slightly low, because during acceleration the front goes up, so my truck on the front is kinda low. The 5ive its a SC, not a big foot. There are mud flaps for the cage...

Raise the truck and let it drop from about a feet or so high, it should settle like I described above. This is the same deal as 1/8th buggies.

I ended up buying the stock 30wt oil. Just going to top up the current oil I have already. There has been some oil missing. How do I bleed the shock though? It seems I may of not done this. Each time I open up the top cap, there are bubbles in the oil. Do I push the shock shaft half way in and top up the oil? Then seal it? Will that remove the air?

Thanks :)
