Traxxas' forum member wanted a video.
I charged up the Hobbyking 65-130C 5Ah 3S batteries I used for it, then had a little blast.

Damn!! This thing's a beast.
Had a little bit of fun in our back garden / yard - highly restricted but good fun.

Bit of - natural - dry British humour in what limited commentary there is - no apologies!!
ENJOY - only brief.

LOL!!
It's a kiddie's table for the lads.
It was bought for Ed when 4 or 5 - he's now 10!!
'JJ' is 4 now and uses it when weather permits.

It is an absolute beast to use and easy to drive.
All I can say is if that's the power on 6S, if / when I eventually 'consider' (yeah, right, its got to be done!!) 8S it's going to be almost uncontrollable!

It's quite high geared, but had no problems pulling it - smallest spur (46t) and I think 30t pinion.

WELL .....
Our friends at Hobbyking had some 4S batteries on offer.
5Ah hardcase ROAR Approved 90C continuous for less than half price, so I grabbed a brace.

I had some problems initially with the soldering, until I realised it was the tip I had in the 100W Silverline iron - wasn't transmitting the heat as it was too short - had a few spares, fortunately. Easy after that!!

As the batteries are the plug-in type, and I use a metal battery brace, I thought I'd play safe and insert a piece of plastic (bag) as extra insurance:

Some carnage - it'll grow back!!

Thanks.
Diffs and driveshafts are a weakspot - well known - when they're 'overpowered' as this obviously is.
Driveshafts are standard, so I'll have to be a little careful. These are the diffs - I reckoned alloy cups from the start to avoid 'movement':

It's now using these batteries through an XL2 - 8S - 2x 5Ah 90C continuous 4S:

Using a 20A S-BEC to help with powering the servo - just in case:

Into this 'Beast' - Toro 910Kv X524 'Beast' 4-pole.

It was only 'blasted' for a minute or so, but all - batteries, cables, connectors, ESC, motor were stone cold!

Al.

Got to like it haven't you? !!
It is SO smooth and there's absolutely zero end play - no movement at all!
Never come across a motor so apparently well made.

The problem is ... ME !!
Trying to control me will be difficult if / when I take it out - at my age, I'm a bit of a 'Jeremy Clarkson' with his "I WANT MORE POWERRRRR!!!"

Al.

Can't wait to get it finished.
I've got a colour scheme in mind, the painter is lined up .... then I may open it up in the local park for a few minutes' fun.

Thing is, the rate the temperature's dropping here in UK, it'll probably be covered in snow - could be fun!!

Only another 2-3 weeks then I'll have the bodyshell.

Same guy who painted that Ferrari F360 1/5 scale a few years ago - fantastic job.

Just finalising details - which 'image' goes where, colours, etc.

Shell already dropped off.

Al.

Thanks.
It should look great, in keeping with the look, yet stand out.
There are others on the Traxxas site which look good as well - TMNT, Dukes, etc ... nearly changed my mind, but I reckon I've got it nailed ...

Al.

I think so too.

The new Axial rigs look interesting, but when stock are SLOW.
When they're given 3S LiPo they fall apart.

Can't win.

I still like my old FG MT - would be nice to rig the exhaust through 8 pipes - 4 each side!!

This is going to look the dog's danglies, as some say!
I've no idea of the top speed, but it seems like it'll see 50+ mph with relative ease I would guess.

Anyone who says that's not fast enough needs their head examining!!

My favorite was the Associated Monster GT, got a lot of wins with that truck in the old monster truck class, dam shame the class died out, it was about having fun, only class where everyone on the drivers stand was constantly laughing, miss it a lot.
