OK so I've heard of people using fuel tube on the shock shafts to lower their Baja. My question is has anyone ever tried using springs instead of fuel tube? A little more solid but still provides some shock absorbtion when the shock is overextended in a rollover. Your thoughts?

As long as the springs were not to big, I would say they would work fine.
Using to large of spring, and heavy tension wise, could cause damage to the valves inside the shocks.

I've used lots of different stuff to limit the travel of shocks internally.

Externally, cables work well too.

I would be extremely paranoid just thinking there is a piece of metal constantly moving inside the shock shaft. At any moment may overheat, bind, and create all kinds of bad stuff inside the shock. I know sometimes I am cheap on certain things, and cut corners, in this case have you tried water lines sold at Lowe's. Its about 13 cents per foot, very strong clear plastic. Another option would be pistons from smaller scale rc, 1/8th, 1/10th, and drill the center hole to fit the shaft diameter of the larger shocks, or o-rings from those Harbor Freight tray sets. Those fancy vacuum lines, yellow, red sold on Auto Zone for those ricer intakes teenagers put in their cars, are very strong. I use those as spacers for the King Motor X2 a-arms and pins, and hold very well, if it works fine on such area, would say it is good for the shocks.

You can also use a shock repair kit, and use the bushings inside it to use as spacers.
I would suggest beveling the lower edge, so it doesn't beat on the "c" clip.
See the attached image.

You must be Very careful in what you put inside that is a plastic material, as the different shock oils will sometime cause them to break down.
I've seen many types of material get smashed down, and cause height differences, which cause the cars to handle very badly at times.

Tons of options, just give it a shot, and use trial and error.
