hello. i am thinking of purchasing a mtxl but want to go brushless. Does anyone know if the RC Madness bl5 conversion for the dbxl will work in the mtxl. i have looked at the kershaw designs truck also but like the motor mount with the bl5 better. thanks for any input.

It will but unless you're going to get figure out how to run some different batteries trays I would get the Kershaw. Not a big fan of Kershaw for the aesthetics but for that car to me it's the best option.

Hi, I did a 5ive t using kershaw motor mount and I was not impressed with quality. As far as i'm aware any 5ive t conversion will work on a DBXL

you planning on running 8s ? and which ESC The Hobbywing max 5 is superb IMO

8s in my bl dbxl was a disappointment :( on 8s......so itried it in my Baja.....bit better...but I`ve now sold the xl2 combo and fitted a scott finlay g32 pro-mx in the Baja now...and run a 29cc in the dbxl.....the dbxl motor mount is going on ebay tonight aswell....I`ll post a link ....better then the bendy Kershaw one...;)..

I'm running 8S with castle 800kv and it's scary fast ... but ya run times are chit. Was thinking about running 2 x 8S in parallel VS 2 x 4S in series maybe? Anybody tried that set up?

mine was the better older 780 kc castle can..;)...I wasn't impressed with it in the db..:(...but in the baj it was a lot better..:).but tbh 1/5th brushless has a long way to go to complete with petrol runtimes.....until then I`m staying petrol....:p

The DBXL is just to heavy and the 4wd is extra load for Brushless, I tried it with a LOsi 5ive and run times were just not enough. In the Baja I run 2 x 4s 8000mah and get 30 mins run time and quicker than most petrol. You do need to adjust driving style though and think about conserving energy a bit, backing off on the throttle early on a good straight and letting it coast to the corner saves battery and gives a much better line into the corner at the same time, I wouldn't go back to petrol now I find I just get to use the Brushless far more with it being quieter so I can use it anywhere

At some point I want to build a short brushless Baja and shave some weight off :)

8s lipo's are still pretty rare I think, options with 4s are far better but 5000mah 4s are a waste of time for sure

Yeah agree. .....but I have my 5x 1/8th brushless so I'm not too bothered tbh....and I can run petrol in loadsof places

Weird to hear guys saying the set up is on the slow side .. Mine is spinning all 4 tires up to 20+ mph down the street. I might look into the 2 x 8S set up and give it a try
