I'm trying to install a Zenoah 290RC in my KM T1000A 2WD truck.

It fits so far if I rotate the bracket that attaches to the clutch housing (see pictures), however then the plate that sits behind the spur gear won't fit. Am I correct to rotate that bracket? It doesn't align otherwise. Is there a different plate I should get?

I took off the stock can and attached the KM header since the can won't fit, even turned upside down.

From what I've read the Zenoah is supposed to be a fairly easy installation... as always any help is greatly appreciated!

Turn it clockwise. Then the 2 holes will line up for the plate. I run the same motor. Runs a little better when modded.
Are you using the Zenoah clutch housing, or CY?
If Zenoah, is your mounting bolt (the one with spacer below clutch on the first hole or the second hole in the chassis? (first one is closest to edge of chassis)?

Thanks!

Steve

Here is a pic. Hope this helps.
Perfect pic! Definitely helped.

So I finally got it all lined up. The secret seems to be to tighten things a bit at a time since the chassis naturally flexes a bit and has the be pulled straight by the screws. It's all back together now and it started on the second pull.

That wasnt a pic of mine. Just one off the web that showed what he needed. Mine just got put back together after another outing.

Great going, now get it dirty
Lots of bashing on a large abandoned construction site. Last few days it was quite muddy. The T1000A with the Zenoah just won't quit! Well, I did manage to lose an axle pin, but rigged up a temporary replacement with a roofing nail and a hacksaw until new one arrives. I've really been hammering the hell out of this KM -- at least 5-6 multiple endos, a few landings on roof, many 10-20 foot jumps. It just keeps coming back for more. The original CY engine seemed unable to handle anything rough, especially where there is fine sand/dirt involved. Maybe it was just bad luck or maybe because I was just learning. In any case I can tell you that the Zenoah fires up within 2 pulls pretty much every time and just howls like a banshee in all conditions until she runs out of gas.

My Losi 5T has been sitting idle the whole week (another "compromised" CY waiting for a replacement from OBR). Now that the KM is so reliable and fun I'm not sure I even needed the Losi :)

Would definitely buy another KM/Rovan. Definitely go for a roller if possible and put a Zenoah in it. Otherwise there's a Rovan right now for like $399.

Expect some stuff to break and just be prepared to learn how to fix it -- it's all part of the fun!

Seems hard to get pictures to work in this forum... I linked to Google Photos.

Anyone know how to get them to work?

Hey Steve you seem to have more knowledge in 1/5 scales then me hope you can help me out. ok thinking bout buying a used engine its a Rcmk short block with a zenoah 30.5 ported top end 6hp.So the question is there some way to identify this to make sure that is what it is. kinda new to this 1/5 scale stuff. He apperently bought the parts an upgraded the engine himself.

I've never dealt with RCMK stuff -- only CY and Zenoah, and a modified Zenoah that came from OBR.

Good deal, rollers is the way to go. All those RTF come with cheap electronics, one of the servos almost cost me the whole baja getting totaled. The throttle servo got stuck at WOT on a turn and hit a pole, did not even had time to activate the kill switch.
