Brand new rampage xt issue

So i bought a brand new rampage xt and got it yesterday. Started it up and did the break in. Well finally went to putt around and finish the break in and the truck doesn't wanna move. Even giving it some decent gas it maybe goes 10 feet. Motor is running great. I almost feel it's the braking. I killed it and brought it back inside and noticed it doesn't even wanna roll smooth on the floor. I have to push it fairly hard just to get it to roll. I pulled back the braking lever and the brake discs are pretty firm and barely have any play whatsoever when brakes are released. Sound like possibly the issue? I'm new to all this but to me the pads should have some play. Thanks for any help!!
