Well, I can honestly say at this point I have spent as much time repairing my DBXL as I have driving it. LOL. Yesterday I got 15 minutes into a run and heard a ear piercing screech. The rear diff on one side melted and twisted the rear end housing and destroyed the gears. Not sure what would cause that but not really impressed with the durability of this car so far. Hoping putting in aluminum diff housings will cure this issue. I do love driving this buggy but man, cost per minute of run time will make you dizzy. I am guessing that the one bearing froze up and that is what caused it to melt the housing, anyone else experience this issue?

The guys I run with have both had it happen, one guy has had it happen twice. Neither of them has been overjoyed with the durability. They both go through several clutches/season, both have had to upgrade the center drive shafts. They have both moved on from the DBXL. One replaced his with a Vekta last spring the other was replaced last fall with a KM X2. The guy with the Vekta also bought a 5ive-T this spring. Guess they have been impressed with the reliability of my pair of 5ives, one of which started life as a Rovan LT305 that has had it share of issues, it's been upgraded to mostly Losi now, chassis, bumpers, and shock towers are the only Rovan parts left on it.

5ive is definitely a better build than the dbxl. My dbxl is sitting in pieces right now...haven't felt like putting it back together...I've been running my 5ive T and B

I had a diff gear bearing seize and melt inward the gearplate until i heard metal to metal contact and motor turned off.....when i took it apart i saw the bearing pretty much toast and forced me to go over all parts , stripped down the whole car and double checked everything, including lubing the bearings....

I was lucky I bought my 5ive before the DBXL came out or I would have gotten it instead, I think it looks sweet.
It does have a certain appeal to it, when it is running right and ripping around it is pretty sexy, I am hoping to have all my upgrades done over the next few weeks and maybe it will hold together a little better.

Thanks, I love my truck. And it's way more awesome now than it was then, it's got about all the TLR goodies, and way more HP. Next winters rebuild will focus on weight reduction, Ti screws, lighter servos, carbon fiber, ect ect.

I picked up a redcat chimera which seems to be the same style as the dbxl at 400.00 cheaper, seems to be a great running car once you get all the bugs out of it.....so far running great and a breeze to work on..

My Losi just had a can stock and I put a Losi pipe on first and it did wake it up, then I got the silenced VRC. The VRC isn't quite as brutal on the bottom end but seems smoother through the mid and high rpm range. And I love the sound of the silenced pipes not nearly so harsh.

Is that Victory pipe?
