Anyone anyone else mixing 25 to 1 and find that their spark plugs are fouling up fast? After just a couple of runs when you look at the electrode it's black and the whole top of the plug. That's what is recommended in the manual but I was thinking about running maybe 28 or 30 to 1 are any of you guys running this mixture and any feedback on if the plugs stay clean

check your carb settings . 1.25 low and 1.5 high put a new plug in and gap at .028. Change the oil your using I use royal purple 2 stroke oil. The oil makes a big difference. Get a ratio cup to do the oil to gas ratio properly. Use 92 octane. stay at 25:1 or 28:1 if you go less than that there is less oil in the fuel lube the engine and your engine's life span will be shortened. good luck machine head

I would stick with the amsoil you have over royal purple or other 2 stroke mixes. If your fouling plugs try leaning it alittle. Use NGK plugs also

Ok learning lesson time . Whats the matter with other 2 stroke oils ? Right now I'm using Yama Lube synth and once that's gone I've got 2 quarts of Royal purple synth. Is this opinion or fact and if fact where's the documentation to back it up . Don't get me wrong here I know that Amsoil is good oil . The best I don't know. I used Amsoil in my GSXR and my Clutch hated that oil . Made the shifts very notchy. I switched to Royal Purple and the shifts are smooth as butter . I know it's not 2 stroke and it's comparing apples to oranges . Not every ones experiences are the same .

I agree with leaning the carb a hair and or going to 28 :1 on the mix .

Absolutely nothing is wrong with other oils, my point for him to stick with that is he already has it and theres no need to buy another $10 quart of oil. Yama lube is also very good oil and so is honda lube. I'm not a royal purple fan coming from the diesel community, and there is plenty of data out there supporting amsoil is better than royal purple from an oil analysis stand point. I'm not sure why RP fans get so but hurt when someone has a different opinion. What may work for you may not for someone else. Either way stick with the oil you purchased, put you carb back to factory settings, do a deflooding to your engine and retune it from there.

By deflooding I mean disconnect your carb, turn your switch on, pull until it starts. It will whine out until it burns the fuel in the engine and die. Then put it back together and enjoy

Use a good two stroke oil like royal purple or amsoil. I think your not lean enough, the plug should have a color of a brown paper bag. Ok to go to 28:1 adjust the fuel ratio accordingly. Would not go to 30:1 not enough lubrication for the piston and your engine life will be shortened, replace the plug and gap it correctly. good luck Machine head

Just to touch on this subject. I recently got an OBR 32cc reed full mod SS motor and they recommend 927 Castor at 32:1. I asked about Yamalube as that is what I was running at 28:1 and they said it is good but has a lower ignition point so run that at 30:1. Running more oil will aid in building compression. Fouling a plug in a 2 Stroke is just part of the game, it happens to even the best motors with the best tunes from time to time

If OBR suggests 30:1 than go with that ,they know they build the engines. But I would go with a better 2 stroke oil like Royal Purple. Royal Purple is what I use. Its called HP 2 C, P/N 01311. Its a full synthetic oil. it will idle your truck better and keep it cooler. Your oil to gas ration is 4 oz of royal purple to 1 gallon Good luck Machine Head

I saw their video, Im just say weather its 25:1 or 28:1 or 30:1. The better oil you put into your fuel will enhance performance and longevity of your engine. Hence will burn cleaner in the combustion chamber with less residue on the piston and the plug. I started out using Castrol 997 and made the change. Just a suggestion, I'm giving you first hand information. Give it a try, a quart is about 12 bucks. Amsoil puts out a great product too. What do you have to loose. its better oil it will not hurt anything. good luck machine head

The guy in the video is Dan Silagy. He is also the one building the motors. He is always at our local track. He is the one who built my motor, he is the one who installed my motor, he is the one who tuned my motor, he is the one who helped me break my motor in. If he tells me to run Maxima castor 927 at 32:1 then thats what I am going to run haha. There is a reason that is what he runs and there is a reason that is the mix he runs. I'm definitely not going to question his reasons
