Dear Members,
I own a Vekta 5 and a Losi 5-T.
The Vekta bashes at a grass track (see Pic).
The Losi runs on-road on ashfault tracks(see Pic).
I never run on dirt tracks this is a big part of my low wear and tear factor.
I love getting them ready for the next race or bash, clean, replace parts, adjusting, checking for anything missing or loose.
It's what you buy into owning 1/5 scale, it is not for everybody it's a required taste.
Best Regards,
William E. Burrows Jr.

I've had this about 4 years now. Has many faces depending on my mood on where to run. Bashing, playing around in the dirt or on a flat track.

Good looking car! I would love to race these as a modified dirt oval... CHAOS! Thanks for sharing!

These work great on a flat oval, hanging the back out. Check out Ronshop. With the modifieds, they also have late model and sprintcar body kits to build. Lots of Youtube racing vids to look at. You will love it. There is also an hour long video on assembling the modified kit.

Looks awesome! Wonder what the closest oval to Phoenix AZ is.

In the garage continued.
Kraken Vekta 5 needs an updated design for the transmission.
Friday after a half hour of bashing in fairly wet grass, lots of fun siding around.
The next day was clean up, inspect and make ready day.
I discovered that the clutch bell ball DSCN0087.jpgDSCN0088.jpgbearing fell apart and another one was missing a race cover exposing the ball bearing.
All the bearing should be press fit or retained with a groove and a snap ring, not glued in the plate,
See these pictures of how much work I have to perform just because of poor design.
Ironically I failed to solve the problem, I just put a bandaid on it till next time.

In the garage continued part 2.
I put over 20 hours in this repair because of a design defect.
Most repairs should be made for wear one tear and crashes only.
I asked you to submit emails about this defective DSCN0090.jpgDSCN0091.jpgDSCN0092.jpgDSCN0095.jpgbearing plate design to DDM, since they are the main distributor.
They gave a glowing report without testing this new product at the time.
Kraken must redesign these transmission plates and send them to all to Vekta owners that shelled out $1,800.
As a side note, Kraken needs quality control on their thread locker. Sone fasteners have none and other are drenched causing the dreaded stripped screw head. Now I have to shell out for a set of ball bearings and a bottle of HORSE GLUE.
P.S. I have to say my Losi 5-T has none of these design problems.DSCN0103.jpg

Dear 12 Bravo,
What I am about to tell you is all documented on this forum.
My sad tale will make most members feel a little better about money spent on 5th scale.
My first truck was a Losi 5-T with a new body with a custom paint job.
Result: It got ran over by a car, lots of spare parts,
Action Taken: Bought a Losi 5-T Roller had another custom paint job, I went a little crazy and upgraded everything.
My second 5th scale was a Vekta 5 just broke the motor in, hit head on at full throttle a 2013 Camry.
Result: Lots of spare parts and a $800.00 bumper repair.
Action taken: Purchased another Vekta 5. with upgrades.I should own stock at DDM. Lessened learn never run on the street.
