I just bought a losi dbxl used with a new zenoah 29cc and i been hearing about things that need upgrades and alot recommended drive shafts and i found these online in ebay anyone have any reviews on these or have used these or reccomend any other premium shaftsScreenshot_20180930-160815.png

Use the ones you have until the break...upgrade then. I've had a 29cc in my DBXL for a long time.....destroyed a bunch of other stuff on the DBXL..haven't had issues with the drive shafts yet.
They ARE a weak point though.
When they break I'll upgrade them.

Back to the point of the thread...

What company makes those?

Some of the things I have broken/destroyed:
Bent the chassis: full speed head on collision with a parking space divider.
Fried the steering servo: probaly had the end points wrong + using a lipo.
Cracked the gas tank: not totally sure how this happened...cracked in the front...probably from the collision that bent the chassis. Replaced that with a stock DBXL gas tank.
Front and rear bumpers: front from the collision, rear from being upside down on pavement too many times....shaves away the area you put the rear body clips in.

Clutch carrier melted where the bearing sits (probably siezed), destroyed the pinion gear and damaged the spur gear.

And the gas tank(again). Pinon ate away at it.

And the spur gear cover: i think it cracked when the clutch carrier melted..not really sure.

I just noticed one of the peices that holds the front sway bar in place is cracked.

Upgrades you might want to do and some that I have done:

*Outerwears: shocks, air filter, motor, pull start...or any other of the creative ways to get these covered ie mesh mods, etc..

*If you don't already have one, get a pipe and a kill switch. Silenced Jetpro and killer Bee on mine

*Skid plates: There is a cutout in the chassis for the sprur gear. Get some skid plates to cover that. They sell sets that do the front rear and middle but they weren't out yet when i bought mine..I only have the middle right now.20180930_200718.jpg

*Chassis braces: stock chassis is 4mm thick and has a lot of flex. Braces should add some rigidity/stiffnes to the chassis...also that top plate is plastic too...might want to replace that.

*The stock motor mount is plastic: Replace that with one that isn't plastic. I used the one from Turtle Racing but other manufactures are available now.

*Throttle linkage was replaced with the one from Pro Spec, not really necessary but made life easier.

*Replaced the shock springs with the DDM springs.

*Replaced the shock pistons with an upgrade from ebay that allowed the use of regular shock oil instead of diff fluid inside the shocks. I don't know if the new DBXL's still use diff fluid instead of shock oil inside though...and i see that Losi makes a piston upgrade kit with 4 sizes for it now too.

*Tires: the stock tires are a really soft compound and kind of sucked. Stock foams were kind of :poop: too. I replaced the tires with some Pro -Line Trenchers and gorilla taped the foams. Did the inside of the tires too but didnt really have a reason as to why...i had them off when i did the foams so the tires got taped too.
*Drive line/Drive train: it needs to be done eventually.

What I plan on doing:
*Chassis braces and top plate: cause i should have did that before.
*Upgrade the clutch carrier.
*Full set of skid plates.
*Do something about the steering. There is an excessive amount of play in mine right now.
*A decent set of tire foams.
*Spur gear cover/center diff brace: cause mine is cracked now...might as well upgrade.
*Sway bar rod things: cause it's cracked. Going to see if the ones from the 5ive fit..if not i'll try something else.
*Upgrade the drive line. Its been 4yrs...I thunk its about time now since im probably gonna start doing the other stuff.:unsure::):D(y)

yea tuned pipes are wayy beter than x cans.

I have an obr full mod 32cc in my dbxl although when I did the engine I did the turtle racing mounts and clutch carrier I have yet to break a drive shaft. The one make way more power then the pos that came in the dbxl (really losi should have been ashamed of that crap 29cc engine) I have a DDM pipe, roven shocks for the front of a 5ive t all around. Outer wears on every thing. Aftermarket chassis braces, killer bee kill switch and lipo battery. There are some other mics alloy parts that have been swapped on but mostly due to me crashing into things and liking shiny parts. Oh savox servos and futaba electronics. All the axles are stock... now I'll prolly break one on my next outing lol.
