Another one.... finally !

Long time ago that I have seen the old Porsche 465mm wheelbase and Speedline rims on it, look´s great

Yes i was really happy when i managed to win this. Another ebay.de purchase lol.

You don't see many 465mm Porsches, let alone the earlier 964 version.
There are so many parts and bits on ebay.kleinanzeigen too. Ive messaged a few people but they either don't have Paypal or wont ship to the UK.

The frustration is im in logistics, so i can have the stuff picked up from them and shipped through the business if they`re happy to put it in a box.
:cautious:

JA Racing who are local to me still have their own version of the FG 993 GT2 body, so i`ll be grabbing one of those soon Apparently its very good quality.

The reason is simple we have had here our own 911 Cup over years by races (with a lot of driver) and the parts and cars are sold often and are made in Germany

Ah that makes sense. I suspect then that there are also a lot of DTM variants too as i have seen pictures of these in the same FG catalogue.

I like that FG have re-released the E30 M3 Body on the Challenge line Chassis. There is something very cool about the roll cages too on the older models- nice to see this included as well.

It would have been good to see a dozen or so 911 models racing around back in the day

Small update....

Bought some FG Speedline wheels the other week. Standard 65mm fronts and some very rare 77mm rears. Re-painted them in white. Still have a bit of tidying up to do on the wheel edges but painting an already glued wheel/tyre is pretty tricky lol.

I think you`ll agree... the car looks amazing on these wheels. The rear dish looks so good with the wide rear end

Yup your right, they look amazing ?

HNY all...

So Xmas and NY with stuff in between has kept me from the Porsche build, but this weekend ive made a good step and fitted a few of the parts that have arrived in the last few weeks.

I finally found a Comp chassis... not in the greatest of shape but it was straight and given how rare the SWB versions are, i grabbed it.
Alloy rear arms were sourced from Hobbythek along with some new damper seals, yellow springs for the rear and just odds and sods.

I spent a few hours on it yesterday rebuilding it on the new chassis and setting up the car again. Its hard to tell whats made the biggest improvement, but the car has become far easier to drive and handles really well. Rebuilt dampers with 7000/5000 oil no doubt have made a difference- especially as the rear dampers had lost most of their oil.

I also decided to bin the Magura Hydros (look out for these on a popular auction site if you need/want some) as a) i didnt want to drill the chassis b) it was so cramped with the Master cylinders in there that i don`t think i ever got them to work correctly.
The car stops on a dime with the cable brakes back in. I`ll be purchasing the Cable Rear disc kit once ive sold the Hydros.

I also bought a Brand new 964 Porsche body from Germany. It arrived last week. Still undecided on the livery, but i don't feel quite so bad now if the one i have gets beaten up through wear and tear. I do have a second decal set after all.

So yeah..... credit cards has taken a little beating recently lol...

Id love to get it out on a proper track to see what its like instead of driving round a course made out with cones, but its pretty good

Got to love this hobby..... You spend most of the weekend getting the car sorted with new parts fitted only for something to break when you run it straight afterwards.... :ROFLMAO:

Im glad in a way i found this, as it explains a lot about why this car has been such a pig to tune.

Ive had a few 1/5 scale cars over the years, so im not a novice with carb tuning. But this engine has been REALLY difficult to get it running as it should. It would start perfectly... even without choke. 2/3 pulls and it fired up. But it always idled funny no matter where the needle settings were. Even at Factory settings (stock 23cc/668 carb) and with a fresh plug and new gaskets, it would never pull away cleanly, was smokey as hell and never wanted to rev out, even as you leaned it out. It was as though it was just choking on the fuel.

I`d put a new plug in, then it would be the same.

I`m beginning to think this lead has been hanging on by a thread for a while and its had a poor spark.

At least i have a spare coil to try :)

so the coil is shot?

Well the plug lead came off in my hand as I went to change what I thought was another dead plug. It was running, albeit like a bag of nails.

I'll just swap coils. The spare I have is new and it's rules another thing out.

Compression is good so I don't believe it's that

Update.

Looks as though from the small test run that i`ve fixed the tricky running i`ve had with this engine.
All this time, a poor connection on the HT Plug lead from the coil was giving me a rubbish spark when the engine was under load. The car now runs better than its ever run even on the 990 Carb. It would barely rev on the stock 668, let alone the bigger 990. My Mcd runs perfectly every time, so i knew it wasn`t my tuning that was the issue.

Also managed to pick up a used 993 GT2 body. Having sourced a GT2 plastic bumper, ill be swapping this over as my runner body. Its got a couple of small splits around two of the holes, but the rest of it is fine. Some dry-wall tape and Shoe goo should sort that.

Ideal for running around a car park.

It will also help me cut out and trim the J A RACING 993 body that i sourced recently by using it as a template. The body was fine, but the front bumper is a little hard to see where the cut.

Loving that new Porsche body. A friend has sourced me a very cheap megane shell for mine to save the M3 shell

Gotta pick it up in week or two.

Good to hear running issues are sorted. I'd be running mine in later if I hadn't done my back in [emoji849]

That Meg body looks sweet bud.
Sorry to hear about the back. What did you do?

Did a little bit on the car at the weekend.

New Alloy Servo saver installed and started trimming up the new J&A Gt2 body. Bought myself a dremel kit which makes it easier to finish these bodies.
