Hey Guys,

I'm new to this forum, haven't been on a forum in a while actually so bear with me while I get my bearings back. I'm not new to the RC Hobby I've taken a break over the past few years to focus on my other hobby which is building a running scale steam locomotives. thats a story for another forum actually

I've been searching for the past few years now for an HPI Baja 5B SS Kit as its something I've wanted to build since I had no job back in 2014 but now I've got a job and cash for one I just don't have the Baja......

I know HPI has been going through quite an ordeal and despite everyone I know in the hobby discouraging me to get a Baja due to the lack of part availability I keep telling them that I work as a tool and die machinist for a living and thus I usually remake all my broken parts out of Aluminum on the CNC machines at work or if im feeling really saucy out of TI

I'm writing as a plea to anyone who might have or know of someone who has a unbuilt NIB HPI Baja SS Kit.....Ideally a buggy but I'm a begger so im not gonna be a chooser.

Well I managed to find one a few months
Ago in Australia but the seller would not ship it so it may happen again. But then again it may not.

Yes, in music if you download music illegally/pirate it that's stealing and is against the law (I learned about that in school a while ago so I can't remember what law it was), in art you steal someone's design, that's a big deal. Exct ECT ECT ECT ECT. In rc tho, it's completely ok to support and to steal others designs (exact what king motor and rovan do), which is bullshit, and the clone stuff isn't even as good. All of its ok or none of it's ok!!! And for me, none of it's ok!

I don't know about you guys. You should be thankful that there are clones . They are saving the 1/5 scale hobby. They are cheaper so that means people more people that are interested can afford the buy in . If Rovan ,KM weren't around I wouldn't have joined this hobby. Also think of it this way . their quality maybe questionable on some parts. People are going to upgrade or just replace those parts which also helps the hobby.

No offence Z but you come across as a hypocrite when you say the crap that you say about clones considering you own a Rovan . It may have ate it's own engine in the beginning . But it kept you in the game and you decided to put a bigger engine in a Rovan BAJA.

Something tells me HPI kind of did that to them selves (Almost disappearing). Engineering pays for itself in the beginning. Corporate greed can make a company or break it if you don't react the the market and it's trends. HPI and others are pricing them selves out of the market . This discussion has been beat to death but people keep bringing it up.
 
I don't have a problem with km rovan but.........could they not come up with there own car??‍♂ the problem i have plagiarism ? hpi mcd fg losi and now flm? why not get one of each take the best bit and make "super car"??
And yes coop sadly you are right it dose bring people in but at what cost?
Coz if there was no clones the people who want to play. ... will?

What Doug said. I don't like to support people who steal others stuff weather it's helping the hobby or not, becuase eventually, with all the cheaply priced crappy "upgrades" they sell, the real original people like turtle racing will get less sales (cuz of the clone stuff) and eventually die down. Which im not gunna support because they pretty much built the aftermarket for the original HPI. Also the only reason I am/was Gunna put my big bore into my rov was cuz I didn't want to go thru the hassle of selling it to get a hpi. Which honestly after all the bullshit I wish kind if did, afterall they are so cheap on eBay and all that.

Well this got a bit off topic ??? I personally will not buy a clone, I love and will always love HPI as a company forever, I still try to find old kits on eBay from them even though I know that the parts are no longer available I know I can make anything I break, the thing with the clones is I’ll feel always like I’m getting the compromise, I have nothing against them because let’s face it at the cost of tooling and making injection moulds I wouldn’t be surprised to see HPI renting mould time to Rovan surely because they put soo much money into their tooling I’m sure they were not paid back yet, or trying to save their company, lots of the roll cage parts look 200% identical so it wouldn’t surprise me if HPI did that to try and keep the company afloat, I could however be wrong I just know HPI has a ton of really new tooling that was not used anywhere close to its lifespan being a toolmaker myself and seeing the last parts being extruded from my friend who bought a new Baja I can say that the moulds look new and nowhere near finished. All this to say If I don’t own a HPI Baja I don’t own a Baja. I don’t support plagiarism certainly not when it’s a direct attack at my favourite RC Suppliers I am and always will be an HPI Fanboy.
