So, been out again this morning to try out the different gearing and test the tune again, also to test steering as changed the steering servo last night.

So, with the 18/56 I get 44mph.
With the 17/57 I get 41mph.
Looks like I can also go 18/56 but gonna have a good look at the mesh first.

But for now gonna stick with the 18/56.20210506_111615.jpg20210506_113904.jpg

i take it ya meant go 18/57 above kev ?
it can be done but yeh the mesh aint the best, not so bad if yer steel with both pinion and spur,
i'd say jump to 19/55 cos it does sound in the vid like it would pull it fine (y)

I got 44 on 18/56, but took some pics of the mesh on both 18/56 and 18/57.
I've left it as 18/57 for the next run.

yeh its weird that hpi do actually list 18/57 as an option for gearing in the destruction book kev,
everything else says must add up to 74 teeth for both gears,
then say it'll be fine on either 17/57 or 18/57,
and nope i'm wrong, hpi list 16/57 as an option kev
17/57 is normal mesh and 16/57 is loose mesh,
so 18/57 may be too tight and feck the spur :)

The 18/57 didn't feel tight at all, had the smallest amount of movement between them, did about 5 full rotations of the spur to check for any tight spots.
I'll give it a bash, the spurs are only £10 if I chew it up.
Cheers for info though spents

Right spents, been out testing gear setups this morning. My engine can't pull 18/57 to max rpm, or the grass was just too wet. Would only do 41 with 18/57 on, banged the 56 tooth on and straight back up to 44mph.

I've ran a gallon through the Baja this week and it's been almost faultless, I'm really starting to enjoy it.
My steering issue was a broken solder joint on the signal wire within the original KM servo, soldered back on, back up and running. Only other thing to happen was a couple of lost bolts, but thats normal for my Baja lol.
Also been running it naked (not me, the Baja) and liking it so body shells will stay on the shelf for now.
Just to add,
It's had more run time this week than its had in the 18 months I've had it. Its unheard of for my Baja to run out of fuel before something breaks on it.
So for me to have put a gallon through it this week means I'm a happy fella

Hi all from the UK . Well I am a total novice when it comes to set ups. I am sure I've seen a couple on YouTube with great info and pleasure watching . I can see this is an old thread but been trying to find a page with gear ratios. Mine which I haven't run yet as bought it as a spares repairs so done a full rebuild racing adjustable clutch which I drilled hole to adjust clutch without removing . My gearing is 17/49 so I don't know if it will be reving it's bollocks off ?? So please if you can find a page with gearing it would be great thank you. It's an FG Marder 26cc . John
