lipo's are very safe if used right, the only thing you can do wrong is massively overcharge to get them to burst. They need to be protected from impact also and make sure you do not drop them below a set voltage which can also be a pain, great battery for punch and performance but need more care...

A smaller pinion should make things smoother, you could also try running on 6s rather than 8s ? ( assuming your on 8s and don't need massive top speed )

Sounds good, are you running 2x 4s to get 8s or have you got a single 8s Lipo ?

Max5 is a good ESC I run them in my FG conversion and my Baja flux, also ran it on 8s in my 5iveT but was just to heavy for electric hence doing the FG conversion. 6s in heavy truck will pull some amps and load the ESC more than using 8s so keep an eye on temps. Photos when you get chance :)

A 5T is a heavy car so that is impressive ! nice to see brushless getting the longer run times now, we just need the new tech Lithium metal batteries to be released and we will see double the capacity :)

Don't order a pinion until you have run in on 12s ! top speed will be crazy anyway, with brushless the higher the voltage the higher the RPM RPM is volts x kv rating on motor. 8s = 33volts x 700kv motor ( example ) = 23100 rpm / 12s = 50volts x 700kv motor = 35280 rpm Thats massive rpm...

Blimey what motor is your mate running in 5B ? the std 'e' car would beat a std 5B petrol anyway ! you will make it crazy quick but your run times will suffer for it, on 12s nothing should be anywhere near it ;) mind you don't blow tyres off the rims ! keep us posted

Just changed the pinion on motor will be easiest option, ok if you want to do some speed runs but remember you will kill your run times ! There pretty quick out of box so may be happy as it is :)

4wd on the Losi will make it much more controllable just make sure you run the best batteries you can, they make a huge difference ! enjoy :)

Baja flux is always good and built tough but handling not great, new losi dbxl-e is looking good. Best car I own is FG Baja converted to brushless ! great bit of kit

Quality of batteries making the biggest performance difference, has he said it is modified at all though ? also backing off slightly then punching throttle again can bounce front up in the air for a good wheelie

Agree completely, problem is most people have used old electric cars and remember the hassle and short battery life. My Brushless Baja and Brushless FG Baja are superb ! stupid quick and 100% reliable. The last Bashfest I did the petrol cars were all getting hassle with hot dusty conditions...
