What should a 1/5th Scale gas RC Repair/Maintenance/Track Toolkit Include?

A butane torch/soldering kit comes in handy at times, especially for those bolts with loctite. A couple of precut pull start cords and/or pull start assembly. Channel Locks come in handy as well. I also have a can of Brakleen and Zep 45 penetrating oil. I often bring, IIRC a 9.6 volt hex bit...

That is where I learned this trick.

Good bash session until pinon gear broke!

I don't have the best of records using ez outs. IMO the easiest fix would be to just replace the clutch bell/ But, to answer the OP's question, I would either MIG or TIG weld a flat washer that is one size smaller than the original bolt. Be sure to just tack weld the washer to the broken...

    Working Stands for 2024?

Look through CrucialRC's youtube channel, he has a tutorial on modding a speaker stand from IIRC, Amazon. He modded this stand to use Axis RC stand vehicle adapters/tilt bracket. I'd link it but I'm need to leave.

    Dead ESP G340 Ported Engine!?

Do the easy stuff, pull the plug and visually inspect the top of the piston. Then turn the engine over.

    How to stop stone chip

Both worked. But IMO the bedliner was better.

    How to stop stone chip

So far I have sprayed cans of Plasti Dip and cans of truck bed coating/liner to prevent rock chips. For me, Shoe Goo and drywall tape is used just to brace these generic OEM bodies. With bodies from RCP and Woodster, these is no need for Shoe Goo and drywall tape.

    new pipe - rusty!?

IMO any type of oil should work. In the past I have used various "gun oil" like Break Free CLP only because I used to get some from work. Then I started to use some home made gun oil my old boss swears by. I made a gallon of that stuff. After 15 years or so, I think I used less than a Red...

    Kill switch opinions

My only experience is with the Killer Bee and the version prior to the Killer Bee. I have 2 versions prior to the Killer Bee are still working flawlessly for the past 13 years. The 2 Killer Bees I have are just maybe 4 years old with no issues. I do have a few Dynamite and Rovan kill switches...

    Is this a good deal?

From what I see, this rig is a clone with some genuine name brand parts. IMO the biggest tells are the lack of serial number sticker on the rx box cover and who buys a Fly Sky radio to replace the stock HPI unit? Most would upgrade to an aftermarket name brand. It seems the only "true HPI"...

    Anyone filtering their gas?

Lowes, Home Depot should have some VP Racing ethanol free 94 octane in quart and gallon jugs. Also, NAPA should have these as well. At least that's what I see locally on this small rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

What was the first RC that you ever purchased?

Back in '88 or '89 I used to work on my parents farm and after a year or so of buying RCCA magazines I saved up. My addiction started with a Team Losi JrXT. I still have it today. I'm sure all of my Trinity Pushed battery packs are useless and the motors will most likely need some brushes to...

    Gaskets

Sounds like your intake manifold isn't flat. Take it off and place each side on a flat surface like a mirror. Often times over the years it tends to warp. If so, you have 2 choices, buy a new manifold and/or file/sand the manifold until it's flat. As for using something on the gaskets, I...

    Other Hobbies?

My OCD scatterbrain dabbles on many different things for no real set periods of time. Most of which I eventually return to. Here is my list time and/or money pits; - martial arts, I started with eskrima/kali since I was a kid, mainly/loosely based on the panantukan style otherwise known as...

    Baja storage

lolz, I actually do nothing. I think the last time, a few of my 5SC's sat on the shelf 2+ years with some fuel in the tank. I recently got 2 up and running. I dumped the fuel from the tanks and flushed with fresh fuel. I then replaced the lines, clunk and filled with fresh fuel mix. My 3rd...

Poo flingers club - enter at your own risk?

I live in a place where many tourists like to visit. Many tourists like to rent convertibles to drive around. Which I understand, most times its sunny, and most drives are scenic. But for some reason, I have never understood those who drive with the convertible top down, but with all the...
