    Spur gear damping bushings?

Looks like a possible combo of problems. 1st the dampners appear to be Rovan or King Motor, and they don't last like the HPI models do. HPI will be black in color. 2nd It appears that maybe you were missing the spacer behind the spur gear, and the damage does not go all the way to the bottom of...

Super Baja rey is China garbage...avoid imho!

Horizon has always been a very good company to do business with, and coming out bashing even their warranty prior to knowing what was going to happen is Never a good idea. Sucks that you have had this luck, but from others that I know very well, this truck is not a complete turd as you said at...

    head gasket replacement

Just to be clear, I have worked in the auto repair industry for over 30 years, so no need to explain any of this to me. crankestein, I am just not sure why you chose to be nasty to someone trying to help. It was you on another forum that had never heard of using mixed mineral oil as a break in...

    head gasket replacement

rager33 is correct, and there are different types of silicone RTV, and some are Definitely not good to use as a head gasket around fuel. Some are better at taking fuel than others, but that is why there are so many options of RTV sealant available. The correct one to use, if you chose to do so...

    Shock oil

Different rubber is affected differently. Not sure of material the seals are made from. I run 40wt silicone in F & R, and have adjusted the piston holes to allow the shocks to react correctly to my liking. The thicker fluid keeps my shocks from leaking or even seaping.

    head gasket replacement

Not a fan of using RTV, as even the thinnest coating of it, will cause a bead on the inside of the engine. This bead will definitely be right in the middle of the transfer ports, and any restriction in that area in my opinion, does nothing but hurt performance. gaskets work fine, and do not have...

    Lowering a Baja 5b

You can also use a shock repair kit, and use the bushings inside it to use as spacers. I would suggest beveling the lower edge, so it doesn't beat on the "c" clip. See the attached image. You must be Very careful in what you put inside that is a plastic material, as the different shock oils...

    Lowering a Baja 5b

As long as the springs were not to big, I would say they would work fine. Using to large of spring, and heavy tension wise, could cause damage to the valves inside the shocks. I've used lots of different stuff to limit the travel of shocks internally. Externally, cables work well too.
