    leaded fuel

Leaded fuel has no purpose in a 2 cycle engine as it will just cake up on the top of the piston. Lead was an additive to lube the valves and valve seats in a 4 cycle engine. Now they have been built to remove the need for lead as a lubricant. You do not need all that octane unless you have some...

    leaded fuel

My Baja has never tasted gasoline and it never will. It is clean and has better lubricity than gas and of course no odor. Yep the price is up as gasoline goes up. Tim I'm not sure about that "myth" and the metal can storage once mixed. Besides doesn't everyone shake their gas can regardless of...

    Baja 5b pinion gear heatsink

I just want to correct you on one thing. The diameter is not the factor but the tooth count is. More teeth on the pinion gear (same diameter) will spin the the spur gear faster, it is just simple math. In order for the diameter to remain the same the tooth profile can be adjusted / cut to...

    Baja 5b pinion gear heatsink

My thoughts exactly. The same diameter is the key, the math is done by teeth vs teeth. As long as the profile is done correctly a 3 tooth variation is nothing to be concerned with and the diameter / backlash can stay the same. When you have a fixed position motor this is the only option that...

    baja questions

The Baja is a rip roaring beast, well built, fun and very cost effective. Not to mention it has a very high after market parts following. And it is only getting better. It is the best gasser/ 1/5 scale car on the market and the best bang for the buck. HPI hit a homerun on this one.

    leaded fuel

Leaded fuel serves no purpose and can actually harm a a 2 stroke motor. Lead was a lubricant for the valves / seats in a 4 cycle engine. It is only a lube so to speak. In a 2 stroke all it does is cake up and collect in the combustion chamber. You guys may not remember the old days, but we had...

To shim or not to shim that is the question

Clearances in HOT parts are to allow for thermal expansion. So just keep that in mind. Everything also around and connected to the clutch will grow. So the clearances are compounded by other parts, man you want to talk about anal (Me)........

    Baja 5b pinion gear heatsink

The heat sink mounts inside the pinion and just adds a bit more mass of alum and helps draw the heat away generated by the clutch. The pinion itself does not generate heat. It's the transfered heat from the clutch. To me this is a great functional option. I'll be getting it for sure...

80% of them were installed backwards from the factory!

Yes the sharp edge makes it bite and stay in the groove better. The smooth edge facing out makes them easier to pop off. Good reminder Fast Eddie.
