You are not the least bit worried about the parts having been cast?. It does look absolutely beautiful tho.
No, not really, the primary reason I got it was for the dunes specifically....cause that’s primarily where I have the availability to run....and I don’t see the sand breaking the cast aluminum parts....I’m more concerned with keeping the sand out of the vital working parts.....lol

Hey fellas.....I haven’t started the buggy just yet....will soon....been trying to get my 5ive back together first....gettin there though....shooting for this weekend.....so hang in there ??
The progress on the 5ive is going well....new diff housings in, center diff mount, springs....got new bodies to put together and 1 wrap job....will keep you posted tho....lol

It is not mine. I would love to have those wheels tho. For a dragster or 50's inspired on road car they are just the dogs bollocks.

Aren’t those Bishop racing wheels?......and doesn’t Detroit Performance carry them....I need to look, I thought they did....I like those wheels as well....just don’t have a need right now, got other stuff that takes priority....but I will get them....lol ?

Yes to both of those things. unfortunately they are expensive because they come with their own adapters instead of the usual hex or square. I bet its a solid solution too.

I'll bet that just made your day. Oh and how about some Pics of the 5ive when its finished?

Hyperdad
The 5ive is finished......ready for the 4th....?

Yikes! What are you using for starter rope?

Hyperdad
It’s just what came with it.....the starter is a knockoff, and the aluminum edges are cutting through the rope....worst part is the screw holding the assembly won’t break loose and is now stripped....so I ordered another.....but I am going to change that “easy pull” starter and flywheel soon...lol

That is the kind of thing that would make me psychotic with rage and I would bend the whole freaking car into a little ball and throw it through the wall while frothing at the mouth.

I hope you get it all sorted tho. Must be a strong bloke, would be the positive way to look at it.

The worst part about the whole deal, was I thought I was making progress in getting it to turn over and start....lmao....then the rope broke loose for the second time.....and I was like F&$k! not again....lol so I’m waiting patently for the replacement starter....and back to it,.....I really wanted that thing running at least to break it in....so I could put it around for the 4th....it’s ok tho....the 5ive is ready (old reliable she is)....?

Ok fellas progress has been made, changed the pull starter, and the Rovan started right up....am at work right now, so break in process starts first thing tomorrow morning....7:30-8 am, for those nice noisy neighbors of mine.....lol

Changed the pull starter, starts right up, idols ok, but every now and then a slight change in rpm. I don’t care for the popping exhaust....but the larger issue I think is the clutch. I give it throttle....it don’t go nowhere, and when it does move it moves slow, soft like....no speed or power.....so now I must tear this thing down and order a clutch.
Atleast the 5ive is good to go....oh and one more thing.....lol seems like you gotta tear down everything to get to anything.....I will learn....lol and with everything so tight to fit...(not in a good way)......I can see this will be loads of fun.....anyway there’s the update. ?

Yes, in terms of accesibility the Baja's is a pain in the lower back. In terms of fun they are just wonderful. Temperamental but predictable once you get the hang on the 2WD. What you are describing doesn't sound good and I wonder if you were just unlucky or it goes deeper because as much of a brand snob as I am, I didn't think the clones would be that fickle. Usually it takes a while for issues to show and you seem to already have a handful to sort out before the thing has even really run. I hope you get to actually run it and have a baja lot of fun.

My Rovan 305LT was really good by comparison, and I had numerous very early issues but I did get to run a few tanks through it between getting it fairly mechanically sorted and the first servo failure.
