Greetings!

I know that this is Losi 5ive-T 2.0 territory and that clones are generally frowned upon by the community, but is the 30DN Truck V2 any good in terms of components, build quality, durability, and maintenance? How close is it to the 5ive-T functionally, ignoring the fact that it is a clone?

The only difference I've heard so far is that the 30DN drivetrain is not as smooth and the bodywork is better. I love the Losi 5ive-T 2.0 V2, but it is $1600 before the electric conversion, after which it is over $2k.

PS - I noticed that the reviews on here of Rovan/King Motors models including the XLT 450 are terrible, hence why I have not mentioned them. That model looks amazing on paper. I also hear that the MCD W5 Max Pro is less robust and more for racing. Was also considering the Kraken Vesla, but it has plastic gears, which seems odd for a giant RC.

I have the real Losi 5ive T and the 30DNT and would easily recommend the 30DNT as a roller to go brushless (also what I run.) For a lot of the truck, you would be hard pressed to even tell a difference. Having gone through multiple diffs for each, the losi gears and pins seem to be better quality, but I run heavy diff fluids and the only real world thing that Losi is better at is diff cup wear. But honestly, you'll be upgrading those over time anyway if you're throwing lots of torque at it. The other area I like Losi better are the shocks and springs, all things being equal.

*If* you are patient and can find a genuine 5ive T roller, the price gap and value savings lessens. But for going new, the 30DNT is just fine; and you can buy it as a roller. Save that money for upgrades as things break or wear.

I am converting my 30DNT to a long body buggy running on 16S, lol. I'll post pics once its done.
