3d printing

I've just started to do it. Got a rapman and just starting the learning curve. Am just printing a belt drive for the dune runner monster but it tells me that it will take 17 hours???. Did you guys have some parts that you wanted printing?

What kind of plastic does it use? Will it take the abuse?

ABS or PLA. Don't know how abusive you guys are so not sure if it will take your kinda abuse. I've made a mock shock tower fitted it and drove it and it seamed ok. It would only take light knocks off road. I made a set of brackets to hold a team chase cage on to a dune runner, an air roof scoop and am now making a belt drive cover. Next is a set of bottom swing arms for double shocks to go on the dr monster. I'll post a few picks if you guys are interested.

Pics would be great! I would really like to see what it took to mount the Team Chase cage.

I might look at modifying it today and print another one tomorrow. The Team Chase cage is partially fitted. I have most of a rear bracket. Need some supports going down to the chassis but need to finish rear exiting exhaust first. Side brackets are similar to that of the baja and I have yet to do a front bracket as I want to incorporate some baja light pods.Too many projects and we now had a 2 week old son……… I guess that the printing will give me something to do at 3am in the morning…..

That is some really cool stuff...Does it come with the 3D software to create the pieces?

Very interesting. You could print a whole 1/10 (or smaller) scale car with that thing...lol

The software is called AXON that runs the printer and the models are done in SolidWorks. And yes some guys have printed full rc cars with them but they are a bit crap in comparison to our Redcats.

Thanks guys.. Appreciate positive feedback. Will keep going and see where it takes me.
