Raced my Marder at the first official meet at the Sussex Bashers new track SBRC....very muddy conditions as you can see, but a great day. Only 2FG's among the Losi's and MCD's.....which seems the norm now. Had to retire due to nasty gear sounds.....thought engine had moved screwing up the diff and layshaft mesh but on inspection the diff is loose so I'm guessing its either the bearing or the plastic diff housing or holder?

I've needed to totally strip the Marder since I got it on ebay so the mud and the gear issue is the ideal kick up the arse to do it.

One quick question......While prepping my spare diff I noticed the diff housing has a small hole in it......doesn't look like it goes all the way through the housing so whats it for?? I have totally packed the diff with grease

(http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_214754_langId_-1_categoryId_165705) and sealed the ends with high temp silicone.....think thats right

got three weeks till MSUK weekender to sort it.

looks like a marder should....DIRTY...lol

its always a good idea to strip the car down and build it so you are happy with it...I did mine and it shocked me at how bodged the repairs were on it..

if you have time to waste have a read

that grease will be fine but if you don't have the case's sealed up completely the oil in the grease will separate and will be forced out during running..makes a bit of a mess...lol...I still get this now...even with an alloy diff and o rings.

where in the diff case is the hole? I run an alloy diff now and cant think of any holes in the plastic cage....(getting old and memory is fading)

I have sealed up both ends of the diff case with high temp silicone as advised by another forum member....cheers for the build link...proving helpfull.

have taken out the engine and discovered its a really old Zenoah 23cc G2D which means the the spacing between the mounting holes to the small engine mount is wider than the modern zenoahs by 4mm. So I desperatly need to find a small engine mount that has holes 44mm to centres......the mounts for the more modern engines are 40mm. I have posted in the wanted section too.

cheers
