Well I am here at the motel 9 miles from the track. Stopped by the track and they where working on it. The 600 mile ride was not bad. No precipitation to speak of. Eat dinner at a nice seafood restraint. See all that come tomorrow.

I drove 600 miles last week to take part in the Baja Challenge in Poplar Branch North Carolina at Diggers Dungeon home of the world famous Grave Digger Monster truck. The weather was not good cold and wet but the hard core racers did not let that stop most of the racing or having fun.

I drove up on Thursday do to a 10 hour drive so I would be there bright and early Friday to practice. Do to the weather I did not get to practice Friday. The crew did a great job getting the tracked dried out Saturday but do to the work on the track did not get any practice till my first run was round one of qualifying. Did much better the seconded round of qualifying and ended up qualifying in the B main. Not to bad for a old blind man. This track was a brittle track for large scale with BIG jumps but a lot of fun.

In the B main 8 minutes in to the 20 minute race I took a hard lick to the right rear of my 5b SS and my shock got broke. I did the last 12 minutes with a broken shock which was not easy but I did finish. I ended up placing in the middle 14th out of 28 in my class. Every racer there walked off with $200 to $250 worth of free parts. Got to race and recived

On the way back home I stopped by the Wright Brothers memorial where the first powered flight took place being it was only 30 miles from where I was staying.

Sorry not pictures of the racing as when I am racing I have a one track mind keeping my vehicle ready and checked out. I wanted to take pictures after I raced but did not want to bring the camera out in the HEAVY mist. When I was running the B main I had to keep wiping my glasses off do to the heavy mist.

My 5b SS when I got home and took it out of the car. It sat in the rain while I turned marshaled so some of the mud got washed off. LOL

Nice.

It looks like you had a blast. I like racing like that. The mud is fun as well but gets a little slippery.

Chris

I am not big on mud but after driving 600 miles I new I was going to race. I now have about 8 hours of taking apart and cleaning and still have many hours to go.
