looking to find a track close to barnsley, south yorkshire. theres 6 of us running large scale, mainly marders and other fg's and my mates got a hpi baja, were all looking to go to a proper designed track (maybe it might last longer) lol. so we can use these for what they're made to do,rather than just thrapping it round a field, we went to a mx track and broke them all within first tank of fuel, if you know anywhere worth going let me know.cheers

you could do a road trip to the northwest offroad rc club, they have got a nice little track its mostly large scale stuff that get run there,

going to have a ride to nook raceway this afternoon just to have a look what its like and what is needed to be able to use the track, its only 25 miles away so not i that bad really, thanks again mike1970

Oooo what you buying - go on tell us.
shhhhh its a secret..lol
my youngest lad has got a 1/5 mx bike(anderson)but he keeps hinting towards a buggy, showed him a tamiya lunchbox, and since he has got 5/6 batteries makes sense gettin him one, for xmas that is. anyway its 5.pm so its too late today but i will try and go over weekend.
can u just turn up at nook and pay on track or is it members? thats why i wanted to fo today and check it out

I think but I'm not 100% sure that on club days i.e summer or winter series you can go 3 times before you need to join. I'm not sure about practice days. The membership is about £45 for the year which includes your BRCA Membership. Look on the nook website or look at www.team5hite.forumup.com

cheers for info mike, haven't managed to get to nook yet, did go to morley yesterday and managed to get quite a bargain for the lad, i got a traxxas e maxx s/hand 150 needs some batterys but looks well and i had a t maxx a few yrs back but couldnt get on with nitro, but it took some hammer when it was running, hopefully this will take same.
iv noticed with the marder i can get a couple hours use(over a week)bashing out of spur gear but as soon as i jump its ripping them to bits, is there anything i can do to stop this?bracing etc. or is it because of the weight of the beetle shell? cheers

You can space out you "gear side" rear top wishbone as far back as it'll go, the gap is small enough between the gear and the wish bone as it is so the more room you give it the better chance you'll have (with a 46/48 tooth gear).

Your other option is adding alloy bits to the drive train to toughen things up.

Hope this helps.

i thought the rear was flexing under landing so iv gone 19/44 to try give it more space, i like jumpin but its too costly for my pockets, looking at my old spur gear it is definatly contact between the rear arms as the teeth are only stripped in the middle, there is still teeth on the edges,
what do they do when racing? 3 bad landings and its finished!

20/44 should be the better option. You will need to beef up the back end to stop the flex.

Ignor the fact that the engine is laid down (it was an experiment) but this is what we do for racing on the FG's - from the fuel tank backwards, everything alloy. All of the front stays plastic other than the hubs if you're using brakes and the servo saver.

You can alos make sure your cush drives are in good order.

yeah my cush drives are new as is the spur plate/holder, i think i need to sell the mt and get some funds to beef up my beetle, what benefit does the ball drives give, and do they fit straight on or are splines diffrent in diff?
iv got cable front brakes on plastic hubs and everytime it rolls over its guaranteed to pull threads out, i looked at that re threadin post but they seem to have kicked the author off and its not quite clear how to re thread them. any tips

I've never had any stripped out but if you do, it's easy to heli coil alloy - I've never tried it in plastic.

It might be better if you're thinking of racing, to sell both and buy a used comp car, there are plenty of Hormann, elcon, FG or Contrast out there.

i cant see me racing due to time commitments, will definatley be trying a few tracks tho. definatley getting some alloy hubs,i seen some balldrives on ebay going cheap today. anyway im going to give it a bit of a strip down, i went out yesterday got it mucky, then rolled and pulled threads out of hub, didnt clean it, put another hub on today and pulled pullstart and it stayed out. probably loads of mud stuck in it,so decided im going to strip it and give it a good fettle. noticed that my mt has got alloy rear arms so il be having them off aswell.
