I have GT3B, a GT3C, a DX3C and a Sanwa (Airtronics) MT-4. Even though I haven't used the MT-4 much I'll replace all of my other radios with a Sanwa/Airtronics radio.

I like it that much :)

The plastic of the MT-4 doesn't have the cheap feeling of the other radios. The DX3C is my biggest dissapointment with poor range, brown outs and an over all low quality feel to it.

One thing to consider is the price of the receivers. Sanwa rx's are rather pricy.

I used Airtronics channel proportional systems with my gliders, but since I got started again on cars with Traxxas rigs I'm using the TQi electronics. Not that expensive and upgradeable. Good response and excellent range. Did need to turn off glitch protection in the Killer Bee though. Only time I've had a problem with radio glitch is trying to use a GoPro Hero 3 mounted on the body above the receiver, with Wi-Fi on, the TQi system ran the servos to neutral after 25' or so.
 
I've read many positive reviews on the Airtronics radios. I've never owned one though. I know what ya mean about the expensive receivers. It about 100 for the 4PKS receivers. With a bunch of vehicles it adds up.
 
I'm using a Futaba 3PL and love it. Comes with a 5 channel receiver and extra ones are $50, but they also sell a smaller 3 channel for $35.
 
I have a m8 and a m11 on some of my large scales . Their 2.4 is fast I would say as fast as the futaba. Watch buying a used early 2.4 airtronics I had one of their early modules about a 2007 model and its range was poor I moved it over to a 1/10 scale oval car and it is fine .
