I got this used esc and motor in a FS racing king kong i tried to calibrate the esc to a Flysky receiver but it didn't detect it so i have a few other transmitters and receivers to try and calibrate with them but before doing that i will remove the dean plug that came with it as it's not suitable for thick gauge wire of this esc and i will replace it with a bullet style plug...i mean look at that dean plug the cable is exposed at the bottom and looks like it's ready to kill.

I blew Qty 3 of those Castle ESC's in my Losi 5 before switching to a Hobbywing. Even with an extra Cap pack they did not like 8S. I do not know how to test so i sent mine in for replacements. They might be the issue and yeah that deans is funny and scary at the same time.

Hi cmbscx10, I did read about user's having problems with this esc from new...so much for CC releasing a good acceptable product.
this one does give the audible alert when a batt is connected to it....the same beeps in there video...short-short-long.

When you hold the trigger down and turn the esc on, what do the lights do? Fast blink? It could be you need to reverse the servo direction on your radio because it thinks you're starting in reverse first. My RadioLink has to reverse throttle servo for all my ESCs, both Castle and Hobbywing.

Dump that deans connector. Getting 4S out of those is about the max and still not the greatest. For 6S or 8S, any 5mm connector should do fine. That ESC isn't going to pull a ton of amps.

The XLX is old and replaced in 2020 for a reason. But if it worked before, it should work again.

it red flashes and audible short-short-long.

I might of tried that but i will check it again.

That's the first thing i will do now before any more calibrating attempts.

yes it's old but it still might work..i have to check if i have a connect to replace the dean so it might be a little while before i follow this thread with a result.
