Baja 5B & t Shock oil suggestions

Guys, any suggestion on shock oil for the Baja’s? The stock HPI petroleum based oil is damn near extinct. I’ve heard of motocross shock oil but didn’t know if really works as it should. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I did search for any related threads and came up short. Seems a lot of info is not working, ie-tutorials & how-to’s

I've used shock oil for motorcycles if I don't have any oil specifically for RC's. Didn't notice any difference from a Losi 5T to a Kraken TT so I think using shock oil as long as its similarly in viscosity shouldn't be an issue. I may be wrong.

Well, I don't race, just bash around with son. With the amount of rigs I have I can't justify purchasing the name brand rc shock oil like Losi, etc... I still have Bel Ray fork oil in 20w and 30w. I also have used 40w and 50w engine oil for my heavy aluminum pig of a 5T.

You more so need to know If its dino or silicon based. Then go get whatever oil you want. Most seem to be happy with 40 or 50wt

Thanks, HPI’s 1/5th scale stuff takes dino (petroleum) based oil & states in the manual that the silicon based stuff has potential to “foam” . I’ll try some Bell Ray fork oil.
