Hi all,

What will the baja be like with a full alloy upgrade? So far i have only got rear hub carriers in alloy, but i loke the look of alloy and im sure it will be much stronger overall with alloy than plastic.

Any suggestions?

cheers

you ll gain weight. alot of guys do a full alloy build, but i prefer to leave some items stock for break points. i run stock hubs F and R, Stock Shock towers in rear, and shock tower supports in front. this allows the plastic parts to fail opposed to bending the alloy. also the parts that i have kept stock, are easy to change parts.

The alloy adds way to much weight in my opinion. You
need plastic parts for a weak point. Plus a 23cc is going
to have a real workout with that kind of weight. In alot of
cases there is no need to have an alloy part except for
the BLING factor.

iv just bought some alloy rear hubs for my baja 5b and they feel so much more solid than the stock ones. I took a hit off a marder a few weeks ago and it just smashed my stock rear hub clean off!

I want my baja to be like a tank! Not too worried about loosing a few mph, il just have to upgrade the engine.

How i look at it is real cars don't have any plastic parts so i don't want my toy car to either :)

You should be selective when you choose the alloy parts. Like Tim said, you need some parts to give in order to save more expensive parts.

The hubs are a good idea, not only for durability, but performance as well.

Also, look into lower rear arms, i noticed that they are worth it.

Where are you located? Have you looked at a Saturn lately? There is a reason they guarantee them not to dent.

Alloy is good in the areas that you tend to have constant failures. The rest of the areas I keep plastic.
