Baja's Don't Like Concrete!

Hey Guys, after a few months break I took my Baja 5B out, during which it took umbrage at the way a concrete block looked at it. As you can imagine, the ensuing altification didn't end well for Baja! (Pic 1). After obtaining a replacement chassis pan from RC Modelz Ltd and virtually rebuilding the buggy around it, all that remained was to re-install the battery/receiver case. That's when my donut credentials really shone, when I connected the power to the receiver in reverse. It knocked out the steering and throttle servos, and I'm hoping that the receiver will recover after binding, ( but I'm not over-optimistic!) The unpolarized wires which connect to the kill switch (Pic 2) also became disconnected during the rebuild but I think they should connect to the middle and r/h terminals, any advice would be appreciated here!. I've also ordered two Tower Pro MG996R servos that I'll fit on arrival, but having read threads today on torque requirements, I'm hoping the 15Kg rated servos will be man enough to handle the load.
Living in the increasingly overpopulated UK, I've found it very difficult to find places where a 1/5 scale petrol car can be used without annoying anyone and without driving large distances for the pleasure! However, I'll finish the rebuild and post more pics on completion. In the meantime, as always, I'll appreciate any advice from those who want to give it.

Yep!
Is a bit of a problem finding a place to run cars without the noise annoying anyone . I live in Cumbria and still have problems finding large open areas of short grass.
All the clubs seem to be for electric cars.
My baja and truck run silencers Such as they are , but my unsilenced 30 DNB pipe is well loud .
That must have been a hell of an impact to destroy your chassis like that !
What else did you manage to kill ?
I run at least 50kg servos on steering and use the symetrical steering kit on baja and truck.

Yes Duncan, it was quite a thump but I suspect that it might have been 'the straw that broke the camels back', as it was left to me by a deceased relative and I don't know what cumulative damage may have occurred. What have you found to be the best way of silencing the 23cc engine, the majority of complaints seem to come not from other people using the public spaces for recreation, but from dog walkers.
Yes, it does appear that 50kg servos are recommended for steering, though the original 14.4kg Hi-Tec HS755MG worked perfectly well until I connected the receiver up in reverse polarity!

Sadly you cannot get them down to electric levels , I made silencer for my baja with turned sections , carbon pipe and some wadding . I have a twin exit system on the truck , still noisy ,but takes the edge off . unsilenced on my buggy is just raw, like a motocrosser.

I can see they're both a labour of love, seems a shame to take them out and get them dirty!

Did you also fabricate the 'lobster back' exhaust yourself? Looking at all the mirror finish on the aluminium castings, you've obviously put a lot of finishing work into those as well! I thought my 5B was starting to look good until I saw these superb pics!!!

Hi.
Pipe is a Victory Racing pipe , most of the machined bits can be purchased on the internet , The carbon bits and some of the alloy bits on the buggy are home made.
Honestly , you could spend a fortune on this hobby , but you can upgrade a little at a time as you feel like it.
I have always modified my toys.
