So it begins. I’m building a lightweight Baja and these are some of the parts I’ll be using.

Titanium exhaust, full hinge pin set and diff gears. Full carbon chassis parts, I’m probably going to use the Bonesteer set up but that requires 3 servos so undecided there.

Also lightweight hostile rear hubs. I’m not sure if I should go with plastic HPI front hubs or alloy ones. I’ll be weighing stuff to compare and decide as I go.

What is bantamweight
Haha it's a fighting weight.
  • minimumweight, 105 pounds (48 kg)
  • light flyweight, 108 pounds (49 kg)
  • flyweight, 112 pounds (51 kg)
  • super flyweight, 115 pounds (52 kg)
  • bantamweight, 118 pounds (53.5 kg)
  • super bantamweight, 122 pounds (55 kg)
  • featherweight, 126 pounds (57 kg)
  • super featherweight, 130 pounds (59 kg)
  • lightweight, 135 pounds (61 kg)
  • super lightweight, 140 pounds (63.5 kg)
  • welterweight, 147 pounds (67 kg)
  • super welterweight, 154 pounds (70 kg)
  • middleweight, 160 pounds (72.5 kg)
  • super middleweight, 168 pounds (76 kg)
  • light heavyweight, 175 pounds (79 kg)
  • cruiserweight, 200 pounds (91 kg)
  • heavyweight, unlimited

So it's not the lightest but lighter than normal.

Thats what I was thinking as there is no drive going through them plus a little bit flex which is good. I wish RPM did extended arms or Kraken re-released there ones, I'm stuck with FLM which are great but heavy.

This where a 3d printer would be killer .....or cnc plastic like the tr losi arms??
I agree Doug but I've not looked into the type of nylons that can be used in the printers and weather they'd be suitable for our applications.

The tech has come along a lot in recenct years, just not sure if they have overcome the brittleness of early stuff. Sure we could print arms, but will they last more than a tank? I suppose we need a test mule. You volunteering? :ROFLMAO:

Nice one Paul, It will be a compramise between weight and strength. I could make it as light as possible but we all know that wont last long.
just build it as light as ya can miles, you're bound to build a weak spot into it somewhere , but just fix any weak points if they show up when running (y) (y)
