So first thing I go to put together is wrong. The FG sim steer kit has a button head screw and the bracket is countersunk. Not a major issue but it’s the first thing I’ve done.

Luckily I’ve got loads of screws and bolts and stuff. The dilemma is which type of Locktite to use.

if it was me i'd use blue on the symsteer miles, if ya use red then remember yer probably gonna have to apply some heat to get the fecker apart if ya needs to (y),
depends on amount of vibration from the engine as well

Yeah I’ll be using blue Paul and all bolts will be torqued down to 5Nm minimum with locktite. As you say I may use red on the engine and just use the soldering iron to loosen them.
What would you use to lubricate the moving steering parts? Red n Tacky or Lithuim?

moving steering parts i'd use lithium miles,
red n tacky will drag a bit i bet, wont need much lube anyways (y)

This quest to lose weight on my Baja is going about as well as my lockdown diet. 🤣

I’ve finished the Bonesteer and it’s a lovely piece of kit. Thing is it weighs more than an original battery box with, TR HD steering and a FullForce servo bracket.

It’s only 50g heavier and does have 3 servos, but still.

Here is the finished setup. I’m well pleased. All the servos are setup with proper brake mixing.

so much for that 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤣 id put that one on the rc40 baja then
There is worse to come.
The Bonehead kit comes with Ti arms which great for weight saving, only problem is they are standard length. I’m gonna have to get some new longer ones because check this.

Slightly beefed up standard arms. 71g.

Ti standard arms but no rod ends, which don’t weigh much. 28g.

Fonzie’s mega Simmsteer extended arms. A whooping 247g.😳

The picture doesn’t do them justice, these things are massive but have no place on this build. I’m going to get some Ti ones made and save about 200g. But I’m not going to wait, I’m just crack on for now and change em down the line.

FFS this is turning out to be a fat bastard. 🤣🤣

having been there, done that with trying to save weight/build something superlite i feel for ya mile,
its so hard trying to get the weight down on a baja,
stick with it matey, and don't get too brassed off, yer gonna gain weight in certain areas but the weight will reduce overall (y)(y)

Cheers Paul mate, I know it will overall and be stronger for it because of the materials.
I’ve forgotten about the FLM turnbuckles and I’m going to use them and post the weights up tomorrow. It’ll be much lighter than the Fozie stuff. Just will look a bit poop in comparison.
