Well boys, this is the first post hopefully in a long line of updates me and Jack will be adding.

Last night I decided to do my new shell. The idea was to copy the format that the 'Gulf Racing' team use, although I could not match the colours correctly. I was toying with the idea of getting the shell done profesionally but then I thought that after the first few corners it would look ruined, so I bought on line some Tamiya rattle tins.

PS-7 Orange
PS-49 Sky Blue anodized aluminium
PS-5 Black

After cleaning the inside I went about cutting out the rear window and both side windows with the Dremmel (what did we do before dremmels?). Followed this up with another clean.

Took the Tamiya masking film and masked the windscreen and the stripe and added the window sticker with the team name on the roof.

The Sky blue paint is very fluid and runs far too easily so with the wifes hair dryer in hand I managed to stop the runs within seconds :D, or so I thought

After 3/4 coats of Blue I removed some of the film and laid a few coats of Orange, what I did not do was let it dry enough (although at the time I thought I had).

Now Tamiya advise backing the blue with the black paint so I put 3/4 coats of black on. Let it go tacky and removed the outer protective film only to discover a few problems.

As the orange was not totally dry it has run with the black and created a 5 'O' clock shadow that actually gives it a look I quite like.

The black backing has made the blue a few shades darker than I was hoping for .

The shell is not as good a quality as the one that came with my car when new, it has a mottled effect that can be seen close up.

What I really like is the Logo iin Blade 2 font.

Here's the pics, sorry not mounted on car as it's in bits.

looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeet jon love it!!!! is jack havin the same ;)

His paint job will be different colours and no doubt a different design but the logo will be the same.

I like simple designs with minimal stickers while Jacks preference is for something more busy so I don't know if he will be getting his done by a pro or whether he does it.

Looks sweet mate, i'd now go orange for the main and grey/silver strip if i was jackrod, same design but different.:cool: They would look nice side by side. :D

lovin it team mate that logo looks the nuts muts good job davinchi haha now for me to stop being a woman an decide on my design haha

Don't you mean the mutts nuts?

I like Jackobytes suggestion of reversing the colours for your's but I know what a woman you are and you will not make a decision.

Looking good so when is the first outing?

For racing the first meet is in March 2011 then 1 meet a month through to Ocotober.

For getting it set up I will be getting together with Jack to give it a number of trial runs, getting engine bed in, sorting castor/camber etc., tweeking suspension layout and setup to get handling I like. I prefer it to oversteer but car as it is has been set up neutral in fact it's a little too safe, it will understeer first :(. with the more powerfull engine and some thicker front dif grease and a more lay down suspension configuration it will start to handle the way I want. These V4's are very tuneable.

yeah mate give it a few tanks and we will have your v4 driving on rails. then all the time and effort will mean i can take mine out of the box and have it perfect before even starting it well thats the plan haha.

lets hope we can do ok on the track and it doesn't like a bashers day out haha
