Hey guys about to start a freshen up of my mcd’s so figured I’d start a thread. How she sits now.
its basically stock with a Bartolone 32, mod clutch, mcd clutch bell carrier, mod killswitch, killer Rc 7200 lipo, hitec d951tw throttle servo and spektrum 9120 steering servo. If your into crazy big bore poop or unlimited upgrades this won’t be the thread for you. This will be documenting some upgrades, but mostly minor setup changes to get the most out of my rig as is.

The boots are so important with ball drive systems. Look at the difference with the grease inside the cup

truck is broken down as far as I need. Time to start cleaning

also gotta figure out how to fix this paint

Why don’t you protect it with shoe goo and dry wall tape or is the body too heavy when you do that?

I can protect it, but the body actually seems very strong. The problem is that I fiddlesticked up the paint job some how and now the whole body is peeling

The shoe goo should help seal the paint to stop it from peeling. I’m gonna do it to my Kraken panels once I get round to painting them.

once I figure out how to get the body fixed I’ll consider it, I did the drywall tape shoe goo thing to one body I had and it works amazing it just adds so much weight really high up on the chassis.

Sand and repaint feked up spots and leave the rest. It's only gonna happen again.

Chassis is cleaned, diffs and cups are cleaned and ready to be inspected and repacked with grease. Cleaned all the plastic bits I took off.

you can look up in the MCD on the Ultimate with all the actual pictures of the whole truck if you forget where or what that parts for, that how i did it it is a lot easier that way rather than reading the manual

Yea mcd has blank setup sheets I’ve never really used them but the new places I’ll be racing at are much more competitive so I’ll start now

Its a good idea coz you can keep the settings balanced as wel as knowing what adjustments did what

Diffs are repacked with grease center and front diffs are in place. I need to order boots for the rear but everywhere is out of stock.

Dude I'm in the same boat. Only place that had boots for the 5ive was MOD. Had to pay for faster shipping on 2 orders today. and I still don't have more diff fluid ordered yet.

Alright so after a long talk with Maher over at cardinal racing we narrowed my handling issue mainly to having the wrong size piston in the shocks. He recommended going down from 4 hole in the front and 5 in the rear to 3/4 respectively. This will effectively act as thicker shock oil and should in theory settle the car to jump better and allow less weight transfer under braking and acceleration.

I had to stop because I realized I don’t know how to rebuild these shocks so off I go to youtube university.

Do you have bleeder caps on those fancy shocks?.. I'm curious, wouldn't over filling the shocks help with the 'pack' your trying to achieve? Or would that just cause inconsistency in the performance?
